Christmas Concert In Williamsburg

Today's painting is a small study on 5 by 7 hardboard. I visited Williamsburg a couple of years ago and enjoyed some outdoor holiday music. I love the square in this lovely town and wanted to capture this moment. If you would like any information on this piece, e-mail me at nswilsonandco@cox.net.

A Spot Of Tea

Today's painting is one of my favorite subjects. My mother grew up in Ireland where tea was the main beverage and so it became in our home and was very much the center of many gatherings. I began to collect tea cups and saucers when I got my own home and this is one from my collection. For more information, e-mail me about this piece at nswilsonandco@cox.net.

Simple Pear

A simple painting at the end of a very complicated day. I don't know what it is about pears but they have a classic and elegant look about them. They are fun to paint....in all different ways. Tonight I chose to paint one on a simple violet acrylic background. The pear itself is done in oil. I like this combination. Hope you do too. If you would like to purchase this pear, contact me at nswilsonandco@cox.net.

Chincoteague Wild Horse

Today's post is a special one to me. Since I was a little girl I have had a special love of horses. I lived in a little row house in Philadelphia surrounded by concrete so having one of my own was not possible although I did dream we made a stable out of our one car garage once. I read every book I could get my hands on and watched all the movies and have gotten to ride on many vacations I've been on. This past September I to Chincoteague with fellow artists to paint on the island and was priveledged to see the beautiful wild horses grazing in the marsh. They moved closer to us all day as we painted and I was able to get some photographs of them with my zoom lens. This beauty was my favorite with a purplish brown coat and light beige mane. I hope to return there in the spring to see these beauties again. If you are interested in this piece it will be on auction this week in my store on eBay.

Christmas Characters

After getting my Turkey in the oven and all the preparations for our meal taken care of today, I turned my thoughts to the next holiday right around the corner! I found these characters in a shoebox of ornaments and set them up to be today's painting. Today's painting measures 5 by 7 and is done on primed masonite board suitable for framing or can be propped on a small easel. It can be found by following the link to my store on eBay. Hope you all had a great dinner and sleep well tonight!

Please Pass The Salt And Pepper

Today's painting came at the end of a really fun day spent with family. We hung out at Barnes and Noble for awhile which is one of our favorite things to do and then stopped and picked up some last minute items for tomorrow's feast. I bought these little salt and pepper shakers with the express purpose of painting them. I love anything copper and thought I'd enjoy the challenge. I enjoyed the process of painting them but think I need some more practice with copper! One of the reasons I love to paint so much is that it is a series of problems to solve....the kind of problems that my brain really is drawn to solve...that is what makes it a joy! Algebra, stopped up drains, why my sprinkler system keeps cycling.....NOT so much. Well, tomorrow is another painting day and it is Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Norma

Apples and Cherries

Apples and Cherries is a 5 by 7 original oil on primed masonite board. This surface works well for framing and also propping it on a small easel in the kitchen or dining area. Working on masonite board seems to make for an even more painterly rendering as the brush strokes really stand out. If you would like to purchase this painting, click on the link to my store on eBay and it will be auctioned there. If you have any questions regarding this or any other piece, e-mail me at nswilsonandco@cox.net

Red Bell Pepper

Red Bell Pepper is a 6 by 6 original oil on a gallery wrapped canvas with deep sides. Fruits and veggies are fun and easy subjects especially on the weekend when there is a lot going on around here. My son came home from college today so there were college games and shopping. We got a new Farm Fresh store down the street which is awesome. We both checked it out and were very impressed with the beautiful hardwood floors and AMAZING produce section. There were things that I've never seen before which I'm sure will make it into my work soon. They had pineapples that were only about 4 inches tall! The herb isle had live growing herbs under grow lights. You'd have to see it but it was an experience. So if you want to check out this piece, click on my eBay store link and you will find it there. If you like what you see, tell a friend! The holidays will be here soon! Nite, Norma

Brown Cow With Horns

Brown Cow With Horns is a 5 by 5 original oil portraying one of my favorite subjects. My first time visiting Ireland, my mother's homeland was when I was only twelve years old. I was totally smitten with the land, its people, and their very large, hardy dairy cows. This past summer I made another visit and photographed many beautiful cows. Since then I have been doing close up portraits and listing them on eBay. This one is my smallest one so far and is a departure in that it is a cow with horns from the good 'ol USA! If you would like to purchase this one, just click on the link on the right and go to my store on eBay! SOLD
