My Favorite Things

8 by 10 oil on canvas

Today was a catch up day around my house. I finished up on a commission that had taken many hours the last few weeks and hope to post it tomorrow evening after I get permission from the family who commissioned it. This piece is one that was done quite awhile back of some of my favorite things. I received this little Waterford crystal vase from my grandmother who passed away years ago. I have done many little paintings using it and unfortunately it broke making this little painting even more special. The lladro was given to me by my Uncle in England on a visit to America. The necklace was worn on a special occasion and given to me by my mother. It is not available for sale but I thought I would share it with you. If you would like to commission me to do a painting for you, please contact me at nswilsonandco@cox.net. Thanks for stopping by!

Hope you all had wonderful Thanksgiving! I had a wonderful visit with my children and was sad to have it all come to a close yesterday. My son, Sean, was very happy when Virginia Tech beat UVA in football on Saturday. They had a very big celebration at a friend's house. Today is back to schedules and work and eating healthy again! Christmas is just around the corner so I want to be REALLY productive between now and then so I can take time off to just enjoy their company when they return again. Have a great Monday! I did manage to get some painting in today and I am quite pleased with this colorful rooster who was on a farm in Waterford, Ireland where my mother grew up. I had a great day when I was over there photographing these high energy fellas. Hope you have enjoyed your day and thanks as always for checking in with me! Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Valentia Irish Cow Cattle Art

6" by 6" on gallery wrap canvas with sides painted....ready to hang from the package!

Today was a great day. My son, Sean, came home from Virginia Tech with his puppy, Brewsky, and we all spent the day together. I always love to have my boys home again. Brewsky is a 6 month old lab and now and weighs 55 pounds. What a bundle of energy. We tried wearing him out a bit with a game of frisby. My older dog who has been really suffering with arthritis pain was feeling much better on her new medicine and actually got pretty excited and frisky....in her own 17 year old way. Sean and I went to Barnes and Noble around lunch time for our coffee and chat while looking at some books. Later I got busy working on a commissioned piece and did this little one. I am very pleased with it. It is one of my favorite cows from my trip to Ireland. All in all.....a wonderful day! Hope all the preparations for Thanksgiving are going well! Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Rooster Lights Up The Dawn

6" by 8" oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides.

Today was another busy day in the studio with shipping and paper work and then many hours of painting on two oils and two pastel comissions. I began the day with my dog, Keesha who is 17, having a very rough time getting around and not wanting to eat her food. We have had her on two arthritis medications and she was getting sick. I took her off the one that they thought was the culprit and now the pain is worse. I got her some food at the vets that is easy on the stomach and she spent the day laying by my side all wrapped up in a blanket. She is such a sweetheart. The little dog has been very concerned and loves to be her eyes and ears since both have gotten very bad. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for her. I am sure all the rain didn't help her old bones! Thanks for checking in with me! Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Tiny Rooster Chicken Art

6" by 6" original on wrap around canvas.

Wow! What a busy day I have had in my studio again. I came home from my workshop in Raleigh with such inspiration. It was all about approaching your work with the fun and playfulness of a child. We all get so serious and tight as we get older. I sit quite a bit when I paint, especially when I work on small canvas but the past two days I stood the whole time I painted which is about six hours. I do take breaks but I had my favorite toons playing and worked on several pieces at the same time, switching back and forth. I really had fun and was exhausted from all the fun! I am looking forward to another day in my studio today working on two commissions and a pear series that I began on Monday. Have a great day and see if you can find ways to let the child in your have fun at work! Click to Bid!
