Norma Wilson Original Oil Give Me That Ol' Time Jazz

Tonight's post is a 24" by 30" original acrylic on canvas. I love listening to jazz when I paint so this is a subject that is near to my heart. My favorite singer is Ella Fitzgerald. This painting is available by contacting me at normasart@cox.net. Happy New Year's Eve!

Norma Wilson Original Soft Pastel Bailee Portrait

14" by 18" original soft pastel on wallis archival sanded paper

Today's post is another from my private collection. This is my other dog Bailee who is 6 years old and quite a character. She takes her job as guard dog very seriously....especially when guarding her bones and food! I always wanted a lab dog and she definitely enjoys a good snooze in my lap. Sometimes she is upset when my laptop is in the way. If you are interested in having a portrait done of your dog or cat, I work in soft pastel and oil and there are both examples in my gallery at http://www.dailypainters.com/. You can e-mail me at normsart@cox.net for more information on pricing and turnaround times. Animals are my favorite subject and I love to capture their special spirit. Hope your holidays are wonderful. Today is the last Sunday of the year! Thanks for checking in!

Norma Wilson Original Soft Pastel Keesha Portrait

14" by 18" original soft pastel on wallis sanded paper

Tonight's post is from my private collection and is not for sale. It is a tribute to my dog Keesha who passed away today after being a faithful friend for the past 17 years. She has been with my family since my college age sons were in pre-school and has moved all over the country as we moved with the military. She loved to spend many hours out in the back yard chasing squirrels or the boys as they played. She loved to circle the yard and did her runs so many times that she wore a path into the grass. In recent years she could be found at my feet as I painted in my studio....always ready to follow me if I needed to put in more laundry or get a cup of tea. Bailee, our other dog. loved to be her eyes and ears when she began to fail and would coral her and nip at her heels when it was time to come in from the yard. They both loved their snacks that they would get when they came into the kitchen. We will miss you Keesha!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Baltimore Oriole Bird Art

6" by 8" original oil on wrap around canvas

Today's post is another in my new bird series. I love the colors of this bird and its strong contrasts. Today was a busy day working on taxes as the year draws to a close. I am trying to get a head start on gathering all of my information for my business this past year. Hope your holidays are going well. I have been enjoying all the fun around the house. My son got a George Foreman Grill for Christmas and we have been enjoying some delicous dinners with meat from Omaha Steaks. Tonight I marinated some chicken breasts and was saving some on the counter for my son to come home from playing indoor soccer. When he returned we discovered that his black lab, Brewsky, had eaten it....as well as the cat's dinner! He is sleeping well now. Sean had ramen soup. The cat is not happy. Norma Wilson Art Studio

Hello Everyone,

Today we are all doing a tour of our studios as part of the Daily Painters Group. I was excited to hear that we were planning to do this as I LOVE to see where people create. My studio is my sanctuary....a place that brings me much joy and peace. At times I can also experience frustration and much acitivity shipping and working on the many commissions that come at this time of year. All of this comes from doing what I love and running a business. I wouldn't trade it for the world! Welcome to my studio!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Irish White Cow Hereford Art

6" by 6" original oil on gallery wrap

Hope you all had a great weekend. They sure pass by so quickly. For the first time ever, I got my tree up and decorated before December 1st! The tradition growing up in my family was to decorate the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. I LOVED doing it that way as it seemed to make sense when all the Christmas presents had been purchased and wrapped to begin the celebration of Christmas by adorning the tree and setting up the train set while listening to holiday music or watching an old movie. For many years I resisted doing it much earlier but have given in to the way the world works these days, I guess. We barely have time to experience Halloween when the stores begin advertising Christmas. Many people have their trees and outdoor lights up on Thanksgiving weekend and you see the trees out in the street only days after Christmas is over! We used to celebrate the twelve days of Christmas....like a season of celebrations and time to go visit all the relatives and see their trees. I remember keeping our tree up until about the 5th or 6th of January. Well, enough of that trip down memory lane. The tree is up and I had a wonderful time putting it up with my friend Lena, her husband, Ron, and brother Johnny who have helped me celebrate this way for the past few years. I went back to putting old fashioned tinsel on the tree instead of garland and it really looks pretty. I am looking forward to a new week in my studio of pet portraits and new pieces for my store on eBay. If you have anything you'd like to see....I'd love to hear from you! Click to Bid!
