Peaches and Cream Cow

Peaches and Cream Cow flew off my brushes last night and a little more today and has a very soft feel to it. I am pleased with how it turned out and continue to enjoy the process of letting each cow speak to me and unfold almost as a mystery does as all the pieces come together....not quite knowing where the pieces of the puzzle will lead... It is truly a blessing to spend my days working as an artist. It is not without frustrations and interruptions, and paint on the carpet, and dogs dragging oil soaked paper towels everywhere....but I still wouldn't trade it for any other job. It has been about a year and a half since I began to learn how to paint in oil. I had mostly worked in soft pastel and some acrylic but after some 300 plus paintings this past year....it is hard to imagine NOT working with oils. I am still discovering what they will do....ALOT! You can layer with many thin layers and glazes and load it on the canvas creating hills and valleys of texure! The best part is the mushing together of colors that create unexpected effects that make you delerious with delight. If you are not already an artist or oil painter....go for it! It is definitely worth trying and don't be discouraged....it just takes time like so many things and you will love it.

This piece is a 12 by 12 on canvas and can be reached by clicking on my eBay store link. Have a great day! Norma SOLD

Brown Cow Sunbathing

Brown Cow Sunbathing is a 12 by 12 original oil on wrap around canvas with painted sides. You can choose to frame or leave unframed. This bovine beauty impressed me with all the colors I saw in her fur as the sun shown down brightly on her and the great expression she had on her face. The more I paint these wonderful faces the more I appreciate all the subtle differences in each one. I just enjoy it more each one I do! This was a great weekend with a trip up to pick up my son who goes to Virginia Tech. He had spent the weekend at UVA attending a big function there with friends so we got to walk around downtown Charlottesville and have lunch together. We got home around dinner and I have spent the evening in the studio. It is amazing how a little time away refreshes you and brings more energy and enthusiasm to your work again. Hope you all had a great weekend. Thanks for checking in with me and if you would like to bid on this piece, just click on my eBay store link! Take care, Norma

Cow on Blue Background

Cow on Blue Background is an original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides which are also painted. I had another wonderful day at the easel working on two cows and beginning a new iris. While I was busy working inside my teengage son was out in the front yard mowing and pulling all kinds of weeds and bushes out for me. He had two of his friends helping him and it was so fun to see all the progress they were making while taking breaks from my painting. We are supposed to get a big storm tomorrow and then I will put down the weed and feed and try to get control of a lawn gone wild. Tomorrow I will be back at the easel working on several new pieces. Thanks for checkin in!

Yorkshire Terrier

Hello again,

I've been out of commission for the past few day. It's good to be back. I have been nursing back to health after discovering I had a kidney infection. It is amazing how you can take feeling well for granted until you feel so bad that all you want is to feel well again. All other priorities seem to fade away. Since I haven't been painting too much, I decided to put one of my pastels on my blog and to list it on eBay. This one is 8 and a half by 11 on wallis sanded paper. It comes matted with foam core and sandwiched between two layer of foam core to protect the image and keep it safe in transit. I love this little dog and all yorkies. They have the cutest faces and are great little lap dogs. I also do commissioned pet portraits and have more on my web site which is www.normawilsonfineart.com and can be reached with any questions at nswilsonandco@cox.net . To bid on this piece, just click on my eBay store link. Thanks for stopping in! Norma

Colorful Irish Cow

Colorful Irish cow is my introduction to larger paintings...especially the cow portraits. I had written that I would be doing a 24 by 24 and when I looked in my inventory for that size....I realized that I must have dreamed picking up that size the other day at Jerry's Artarama. I do that a lot at the grocery store. I'll have my hand on the item and something shifts in my brain and when I get home...I have the wrong thing! I think I need to get a free bottle of that focus factor! The 24 by 24 will be coming but this size is a nice size too and I really had fun with this one with the light and colors I saw and had fun exaggerating. Enjoy! To bid on this item, please click on my eBay store link! Thanks for stopping by.

American Beauty Cow

I think I have a case of spring fever....I just want to be outside! I'm thinking I need to set up my easel on the screened porch to take advantage of the beautiful weather we are having. It was in the 70's today and the azaleas are so beautiful. There are dogwoods trees in bloom all over the neighborhood. I really need to plant one in my back yard. Today I worked on two paintings....one large landscape with poppies which will probably be on here on Thursday. I also did another cow....this one with a dark background which really makes the cow look very striking. I like it and it is a 12 by 12 original oil on 3/4 inch wrap around canvas with painted edges. It is currently on auction on eBay and you can bid on it by going to my eBay store link. I'm excited to get up early and get painting tomorrow. I'll be posting a 24 by 24 cow tomorrow night! I also have to get that darn tax stuff faxed to the tax man and a zillion other things! Nite! Sleep well.

American Cow Greeting

Hello!

It's hard to believe it's already April! I've been working on gathering my tax information and continue to search for ways to stay organized with the mounds of paper that seem to multiply like the mismatched pairs of socks. There's so much that goes into the process of painting and selling paintings.....some days all I want to do is paint and skip the rest but alas....my personal assistant has not appeared yet so I will have to find ways to balance it all. Whenever I do sit down at the easel....time flys and I get lost in the process. It really is a kind of bliss. I am so grateful to be able to do what I love and to share it with others. Tonight I am posting another American cow in the very familiar 12 by 12 format on stretched canvas. It is an original oil on auction on eBay and can be reached by clicking on my eBay store link. This week I will be introducing a new size....a 24 by 24 cow portrait....hope you will check back. Thanks for stopping by.,...

Another weekend comes to a close. It has been a busy one with painting, exercising, church and some yard work today. It was good to be outside in the beautiful spring weather and to get things cleaned up and ready to plant some flowers this week.

It is a 12 by 12 original oil on canvas with wrap around sides and is currently on auction on eBay.
