Hello Again.....as the days of summer are winding down and it is back to school next week for my high schooler, I find myself feeling a bit sad and yet also feel like I am about to enter a new phase of my life. This past year has been such a time of growth with my art business as well as adjusting to life as a single Mom. My oldest just moved out on his own and my middle son and his puppy returned to Virginia Tech. We have to have such faith sending those we love the most out into the world and just know we are where we should be in life and all is well. I am in the process of getting a new customized look for my eBay store and reorganizing my home studio and looking forward to excitement to this new busy time of year in the fall. Today's post is a 12 by 12 rooster....I love painting these happy fellas. I hope to get back into some of my bigger paintings in the coming week and also some of the little 6 by 6 figuratives. This weekend has been really busy with my son, Patrick, getting ready to move up to Harrisonburg for his first post college job. This is the first weekend in a long time that I haven't painted. Much of my day today was spent on a custom pet portrait of a sweet yorkie and also a small pastel painting of white tulips for a client who wants to give this as a wedding gift. This painting was completed yesterday. Tomorrow I am going to be down at one of the galleries where my work is represented. There is a large outdoor show being held nearby and they are anticipating a big crowd. We are taking the opportunity to be there to greet people. It should be a fun day. Today was quite the busy day as it began with a surprise call from a fellow artist and dear friend calling and asking me to meet her for lunch. She spends the summer in Ireland at her cottage there and conducts artists retreats. It was fun to see her again. The afternoon was spent with two of my sons running errands for back to school supplies and helping my college graduate prepare to move up to his first job and apartment. When I returned I managed to work on two new paintings and completed this one. My studio is a pretty good mess and so is the rest of the house but I feel soooo much better after spending some good time painting. I keep thinking one of these days everything will get nice and organized and my days will run smoothly............I am afraid I may be delusional. Today was a day that felt too short for all the things that I wanted to accomplish! I did get the dogs to the vet for their yearly shots, heartworm, worm check, and on and on. It feels good to have them updated....think I need to get pet insurance though! Good news is they are doing great. Mother and Daughter At The Beach

Today was a great day spent painting in my studio. I had a visit from my friend Roxanne yesterday who was down with her husband Ron, who was here on business. We spent the day chatting and painting together and had a wonderful day. Last night we all went to our local museum which has a jazz night on Wednesday evenings and we walked around and looked at the paintings. That is always so inspiring.
Tomorrow my son and the new "grandpuppy" leave for college and I have been enjoying our time together today and feeling pretty nostalgic. I think that this painting that I completed today captures the love of a mother for her child and the fleeting moments that we share with our little ones. Even though he is now a young man of twenty...he is still my little guy in my heart and always will be!

Today's post is a piece that I really enjoyed painting. These characters have a title other than my eBay search engine title and it is "Showdown". I think it suits them! I had a great day today working in my studio, spending time with my sons and dogs and watching the antics of the "grandpuppy". He decided to pick up the water bowl today and dump it over for starters. He never tires of tryimg to get the other two dogs to play. Hello All,
I am late posting today. It is Sunday and half the day is gone. Last night was spent with friends who were giving one of our friends a send off as she is accompanying her new husband on a three year tour to Okinawa. I know she will be home for visits but I am sad to see her leave.
Yesterday was spent working on this fox in a newly organized studio space It was a pleasure to feel uncluttered and to work on such a large canvas...large for me anyway. This piece is a 24 by 30 which began with a blue acrylic undercoat which today you can see it has kind of a blue glow peeking through the oil painting. I like to tone my canvases before I begin and usually begin with a red undertone but this one had a pretty cerrulean blue base. This piece will require framing as the sides have staples. Uncharted Waters

Today's piece is just what it's title describes. I have worked on abstract before but have never posted
any pieces to my blog....till today. I think it is the summer and the freedom from routine but I just wanted to explore shapes, colors and lines....without the framework of a particular end point....how fun!!! I will be doing more of these throughout August. It is REALLY fun being an artist! Today's piece reminded me to HAVE FUN!!
