Norma Wilson Soft Pastel Cat In The Garden

Today's post is a 17.5 by 23.5 inch soft pastel on archival sanded paper. It is surrounded by an archival double rag matt which fits into a 24 by 30 inch frame. Norma Wilson Original Oil Brown and White Cow at Dusk

Today's post is a 16 by 20 original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted making framing optional. I first saw this cow on my return home from Philadelphia. I was on the eastern shore crossing from Maryland into Virginia when I noticed a field of cows lit up at dusk in a spot where I could actually pull over and take some pictures. There were about 100 cows all pretty close to the road and when I stopped the car, every eye was on me. It was a pretty mystical momen...I could hardly move! Perhaps it is all the time I have spent up close and personal with so many cow faces but I have never felt such a connection before. I was able to get quite a few good shots and will be posting more home grown cow faces in the weeks to come. I even got a few great geese photographs with the same great lighting. Hope you enjoy! It is currently on auction on eBay. Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Original Pastel Rocky Mountain Landscape

Greetings!

Today's post is a departure from my oil painting to a soft pastel landscape that inspired me with its breathtaking colors. On a visit to family in Colorado I took in this place and enjoyed very much interpreting it in this beautiful medium. Soft pastels are pure pigment in dry form held together with a gum binder. They look like chalk but are brilliant in their colors and ability to refract light. My method of working with pastels is to cover the whole surface with many layers. This piece measures 11 by 15 and is matted to fit into an 18 by 24 inch frame. It comes with a double archival rag mat in palm beach white and is sandwiched between two pieces of foam core and the image is covered with glassine paper which helps protect it until you can get it framed under glass.
I am off to Philadelphia tomorrow to visit family. I grew up there and still have two aunts and quite a few cousins. I am looking forward to the trip. Hope you all have a great weekend!Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Chincoteague Deer Up Close

Today's post is a 12 by 12 original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted. It was inspired from my trip to Chincoteague where I was able to photograph this deer and her baby at the side of the road, They both seemed unfazed at our being so close as they munched on the grass. She did look up occasionally to see what all the fuss was about! Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Boat Docked In Chincoteague

Happy Friday! The weeks seem to be flying by faster and faster. I took most of the day off today to have lunch with a friend and to have my nails done. We also fit in a trip to my favorite store....Chicos. It is a new store and is dangerously close to my house. First Jerry's Artarama came to Virginia Beach and now this! Since being home I have been working on setting up a newsletter to announce the opening of my redesigned eBay store and ordering business card with my new logo. Both claim to be SO EASY! I did complete a newsletter a couple of months ago but it took me about six hours. Help! I think I will do better after a good night's rest but as a result....I didn't complete a painting today but I am listing a piece done in Chincoteague on location last weekend. It was a beautiful day....very peaceful with a lovely breeze. Hope you enjoy the change! Thanks so much for all the wonderful support and bids! Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Acrylic Chincoteague Floral Painting

Today's post is a 16 by 20 acrylic painting done on canvas. The flower which was my inspiration was growing in Chincoteague where I just spent this past weekend painting with dear friends. It was basking in the sunlight and looked so pretty....I had to paint it. I had fun abstracting the background and playing with complimentary colors. I always feel so energized after my visits with fellow artists....full of renewed committment to my craft and ideas for future projects. We saw some lovely deer up close on Assateague Island who were completely comfortable with all of the photographers surrounding them as they grazed on grass at the side of the road. Hope you have a great start to your week! For more information, click on my eBay store link.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Brown Cow With White Spot Art

Today's post is a 12 by 12 original oil portrait of a sweet brown and white cow. I love how the orange reddish highlights in the fur contrast with the green background. It is currently on auction on eBay and can be reached by clicking on my eBay store link. I am off to Chincoteague tomorrow to paint with my friends. It is the third year of doing this and it is always a great weekend. We saw the wild ponies of Chincoteague up close last year and I was inspired to paint them when I returned. One sold to a soldier in Afghanastan who was buying it for his wife's birthday. They owned the horses's son! They had purchased the pony as one of the annual roundups of the island's horses. They even knew his name. I will be looking for "surfer dude" again this year. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Girl Dancer Reaches For Light

Well, I did it! I finally organized my new office going through all my paperwork and updating my files. Not exactly an exciting Labor Day but I feel so much better beginning the new school year routine. I haven't painted in several days so as soon as Andrew leaves for school tomorrow, I am heading to my studio to get some painting done! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend....whatever the plans were.

Today's post is from a picture given to me by one of my son's college friends. His girlfriend was the subject of this painting and I thought she was a pretty subject to paint. It is a 24 by 30 on wrap around canvas with sides painted. To see this painting, click on my ebay store!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Autumn Floral Pumpkin Art

Hope you are all having a great Labor Day weekend. Mine has been productive....cleaned out the garage today. I haven't posted for a few days which is a first since I began this blog to go so long. My computer crashed the other day and I decided to buy a new one. My old one was only 11 months old but it was the second time it crashed. My new one is an HP and is it awesome...I'm still learning all of its capabilities. The old one was a Gateway and when I get it fixed, I plan to use it as a back up.
