Anyway, I had a request for another yorkie portrait so here it is. It is a 6" by 6" on wrap around canvas with sides painted. Have a GREAT weekend!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Tabby Cat Painting Art

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Once agian I have been inspired by my cat, Rusty, who is a grey tabby. Every now and then I see the sun hitting her in one of her zen poses and I am quick enough to grap my camera and capture the moment. Then I use that as my inspiration to put paint to canvas. This one is done with lots of thick, lucious, brush strokes. I love to apply the paint thickly and move it around creating lots of texture and interest. Hope you find it interesting too! My love of painting cats began several years ago when I had a studio at The Artist's Gallery in Virginia Beach. Every year they have a cat show which everyone kept going on and on about and I really didn't
"get it". I did enter a couple of paintings and that night, I was amazed. It was the biggest show of the year with wall to wall cat lovers...may of whom were adorned with cat pins, hats, tails, t-shirts, etc. The local animal shelter brought adorable kittens and the paintings were flying off the walls. It was then that I learned that cat lovers are a VERY enthusiastic, loyal, and fun group. A portion of the sales went to the shelter and the kittens found new homes, and many of the paintings found new homes as well.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Tulip Floral Portrait Art

12" by 16" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Can't believe it is Sunday night again!!!!! It has been a great weekend....very productive and relaxing. I have spent many hours in my studio and finished working on three paintings. This floral was really fun. I listed it as portrait art and feel that many of my paintings are a portrait of sorts whether it be animals, flowers, people or vegetables and fruit. I like to see the close up view of these things and capture the essense. I love to hear from all of you and appreciate all the kind words and ideas for future pieces! Being a working artist is a dream come true but can be a very solitary life. I am so pleased to receive so many e-mails and to have the opportunity to get to know people who view my work and collect it. Hope you have a wonderful week and that your days are filled with many blessings!

12" by 16' on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Hello all,

What a busy day I had today shipping and preparing for a presentation I gave this evening at the Chesapeake Bay Art Association which was all about eBay. I really enjoyed the group and learned all about some local shows coming up soon. I even had time to list this rooster which is quite the lively guy. Can't believe tomorrow is already Wednesday! I wonder what life would be like if we didn't track time but just allowed the moments to be.... Not sure where that came from. Enjoy!

Norma Wilson Original Acrylic Floral Still Life Art

16a' by 20" original acrylic on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Tonight's post was great fun to paint. I worked in acrylic for a change and with some paints I got in Raleigh where I attented a workshop in November. The colors were rich and brilliant and a joy to work with. I really liked painting in this very loose impressionist style. I am also working on a commission for a client to give her husband for Valentine's Day. I will be posting it in the next few days. Hope your week has been going well and that you have a great Friday! Norma Wilson Original Oil Two Cows Approach Cattle Art

16" by 20" original oil on wrap around canvas

I really had fun painting these two characters. Yesterday I drove five hours up to Virginia Tech to see my son for his 21st birthday. We had lunch together and then I drove 2 and a half hours to Harrisonburg to see my other son Patrick who is now working at James Madison where he graduated last spring. All along the way, I saw the most beautiful countryside dotted with cows. When I stopped for gas there was a field around back where I got up close and personal with some cows. I wish I could have patted them on the head! Anyway, I think my experience yesterday helped bring back why I love these creatures so much. They sure are curious! Hope you enjoy this duo. Have a great Wednesday! Am I the only one who feels like time is speeding up? Click to Bid!
