Norma Wilson Fine Art Irish Calf Cow Portrait Art

16" by 20" original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted. It is currently on auction on eBay!

I had a great summer day sleeping in a bit and getting into my office around 10:30. It is the beauty of working at home. I find myself still at my computer finishing up after midnight but it seems to work well with my internal clock. I had a web class with Danna Crawford of http://www.powersellingmom.com. She has been such a help in learning HTML and even learned a bit about making logos too using photoshop. She was honored at EBay live with their top award and also another for EBay giving works. Stop by her site to check it out. Anyway, I am in the process of developing a new listing template. I am excited about this painting too of an Irish Moiled Cow. It is a red and white cow with white freckled looking area that give it their distinctive look. Hope you week is off to a great start! Thanks for all the e-mails and commissions!

I am having difficulty uploading the photograph and will try doing it later this evening.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Dalmation Dog Portrait Art

12" by 24" original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted. It is currently on auction on eBay.

As I sit here in my studio, I am listening to lightning in the distance. I love to hear it...brings back memories of my childhood listening to it as I lay in my bed after a long day of swimming and riding my bike and playing red light, green light in the street until all the Mom's would begin to call us home. 'Tis the season of fireflies and the ice cream man ringing his bell to the squeals of all the kids. Where I grew up in Philadelphia we loved water ice and Philadelphia pretzels. O.k. now I have to get a snack!

I really had fun with this painting. It kind of reminds me of my grandpuppy, Brewsky, only with white blotches on him! I have always loved dalmations, probably because of how fun they look and 101 Dalmations! For more information about having your special pet painted, you can e-mail me at normasart@cox.net. Norma Wilson Original Oil Black and White Cow Trio

24" by 30" original acrylic on gallery wrap canvas with 1 3/4 inch sides painted.

Today I had some fun with acrylics and worked on three black and white cows in the field. The little one looks like she is seeking refuge between her elders.

It has been a great weekend with my son Patrick home with his girlfriend Tess. They all went to a concert last night with their Dad to see Billy Joel. I worked most of the weekend but it was nice to have company in the house and all the activity. They all went to the beach twice and took Brewsky and Bailee along. They slept well afterwards! Have a great week! If you would like to see a closeup pic or bid then please click here.

Norma Wilson Original Oil English Cow In The Moonlight

18" by 24" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

All was pretty quiet around the home front today so I got some good painting done. Andrew is up the eastern shore with a friend's church group working on a habitat for humanity house. Sean worked at the Olive Garden and the dogs and cat were pretty quiet as well. The weather has been really nice so Brewsky and Bailee enjoy hanging out outside. It is so cute catching them sunning on the deck together or poking around the yard. Their relationship was not always an amicable one. Bailee used to curl her lip and bare her teeth and did ALOT of growling. He work her down with his charming ways and now they are fast friends.

I am excited about tonight's cow. I love these white faced cows with black bodies. They have a formal look about them with very soft, sweet faces. Hope you like it too!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Red Pepper Veggie Painting

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted.

Tonight's post is a tribute to my grandpuppy. He LOVES peppers. The other night I caught him booking through my studio from the kitchen downstairs and saw a flash of something red in his mouth. He had stolen a red pepper from the kitchen counter and had already eaten half of it....seeds and all and was taking the rest of his prize to my son's room where he sleeps. When I told Sean he said, "Oh, he loves peppers Mom!". I guess so! He really likes many fruits and vegetables. So far he hasn't touched this one which is sitting on my table with the light on it for my still life set up. I will have to swap out this photo in the morning when I take one outside in the natural light. I used tissue paper over the light but it still is too shiny. If you are interested in this one, contact me. Have a great Wednesday!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Two Peppers And A Garlic

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted. It is currently on auction on eBay.

This piece was fun to paint with these powerful flavor enhancers leaning on each other as they many times do in dishes we love to eat! Today was spent mostly in my office catching up on correspondence, bookwork and such. It was very productive and I feel so much lighter. I avoid it like the plague but yet when I do it, I actually enjoy it and feel great afterwards. Go figure. Kind of like my relationship with exercise.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Red Onion Food Art

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Today was a great day in my studio. I spent all day yesterday cleaning house, organizing my studio and setting up my paints and supplies. It felt good. I decided to change my focus a bit to more still life subjects and slices of every day life. I am planning on doing another blog to focus on animals and pet portraits. That is the plan for the week. They will be linked together. This subject of the red onion was really fun to do and didn't seem right until I stepped back and saw that I had succeeded in capturing a really pretty red onion....perfect for a salad of spinach and bacon! Hope you have a great week ahead!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Calf Cow Cattle Painting Art

16" by 20" original oil on wrap around 3/4 inch sides which are painted a solid color and can be framed or left unframed as well.

I am sitting in my MUCH cooler studio tonight. It turns out my very old system was slowly leaking freeon and the coils needed a good cleaning too. I enjoyed working on this little calf very much, especially all the texture with the hay. Tomorrow is my teaching day in Norfolk. I am planning on painting quite a bit this weekend with perhaps a bit of yard work thrown in and time out for a bit of fun. Hope your Friday is a good one and weekend too!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Little Racoon All Lit Up

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted.

In spite of the heat in my studio, I still had a great painting day working on three different pieces. This one is a sweet little painting and it was great fun to paint. I will be posting the other two in the next two days. The air conditioning people are coming tomorrow. Yeah! It has been kind of nostalgic the past few days sleeping with several fans going to move the air a bit. The dogs have managed to find the coolest spots in the house.....one of the closets and my office! Well, it is time to clean up my brushes and organize a bit. Hope you are staying cool! Enjoy the rest of your week. Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Sunlit White Lab Retriever

Tonight's post is a 10" by 10" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted. It is currently on auction on ebay.

I had planned on working on a still life tonight with a red onion, garlic and olive oil. Perhaps is is my new constant companion in my studio, my son't lab but I found myself wanting to paint a lab tonight. I loved this one as he has a glow about him. He looks like he could be at the beach ready to catch a frisby.

We are all still boiling as the air conditioner people did not make it here today. I think the plan is to camp out downstairs as it is not as bad down there. I remeber when I was growing up, we only had one HUGE air conditioner in my parent's room. It looked like a piece of furniture. I think we just took a bunch of cold showers and played outside with the hose. The kids used to open up the fire hydrants too in Philadelphia. People didn't have in ground swimming pools around where I grew up. Well, I am going to finish up here so I can get this warm laptop off of me and try to get some sleep. Hope you week is off to a great start.

If you know anyone who might be interested in commissioning a pet portrait, this is a great time to do it as things pick up in the fall and holiday season. You can e-mail me at normasart@cox.net.

Norma Wilson Original Oil White Day Lillies Floral Art

Today's post is a 10" by 10" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted. It is currently on auction on eBay.

I was drawn to this piece as it was a study in white and it was very challenging. I learned a lot doing it and had fun. Today was a day of unexpected occurences. I spotted a huge stain on my family room carpet and on further investigation began to suspect it was the ice maker on the frig leaking. It leaked into the dining room as well damaging the hard wood floor. Hmmmm. I learned from my neighbor what to do so I notified my insurance and got Servpro out here. I am pretty impressed with what they did. I'll know in a few days if the floor or carpet needs to be replaced. In spite of all of this, I was able to paint for quite a few hours and I am pretty pleased with the past couple of days work. Hope your week is going well. It's almost the weekend!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Red Rooster In The Field

5" by 7" original oil on masonite board. It is currently on auction on eBay.

Still in my studio after a long but very productive day painting. I began five different paintings today which is more than I usually work on at once and actually completed three. I began the day going through all my paints and getting rid of old tubes and discovering some colors and paint that I didn't realize I had! That got me thinking of some new color schemes and I am very pleased with what I came up with! I will be posting the rest the remainder of the week. One cow I did is already on auction....an Irish white cow. I think I'll post that one here on my blog tomorrow night. Another I am working on is of white flowers and a small landscapae of Cape Hatteras lighthouse. I plan on being in my studio first thing tomorrow morning and then I am having lunch with fellow artists down in Portsmouth. We are having our First Friday celebration this week so I am sure we will be discussing that. Come see us!
Happy Birthday to my nephew Kevin!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Black And White Cow Art

Tonight's post is a 22" by 28" original oil on gallery wrap canvas with 1 1/2 inch sides painted. It is currently on auction on ebay.

I REALLY love this cow and how soft she looks against the background. She is painted with a lot of paint and may take several days after end of auction to dry. White takes the longest to dry. I always welcome any questions about my paintings and listings and can always be reached at normasart@cox.net. Today was a great day today with time spent in Portsmouth getting a painting ready to ship. I enjoyed the walk around historic downtown on my way to the post office. It was another beautiful day. Then I came home to my Bailee and Brewsky who keep me good company as I paint in my home studio. Sean had a long day of orientation so he was late coming home for dinner. It always feel so good when we are all home together in the evening. I am working in my studio with the news of the Presidential campaign in the background. Andrew was playing his guitar and Sean was studying for his test tomorrow at the restuarant where he is working for the summer. Life is good. Hope all is well in your world. I appreciate your checking in with me. I love being part of the daily painters group and for the opportunity to be associated with such a group. I have met so many wonderful collectors as well! Nite.

Norma Wilson Original Oil White Rooster Chicken Hen Art

8" by 10" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted. It is currently on auction on ebay.

Today was a busy day in my office getting my "in" box cleared and paying bills. Sean started working at the Olive Garden today and the house was quiet with Brewsky and Bailee napping and "playing" intermittently. All in all, a great day and this evening I have been painting in my studio and preparing surfaces for future paintings. Tomorrow I am planning on being at my place in Portsmouth working on a large cow. This weekend is First Friday in Portsmouth http://www.portsmouthva.gov/calendar/longlist3.asp. Hope you will stop by if you live nearby. Have a great week! Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Original Acrylic Fruit Watermelon Slice

Today's post is a 6" by 8" original acrylic on canvas board. It is currently on auction on eBay.

This piece was done on Friday when I taught at Harbor's Edge Retirement Community. One of the ladies asked me to stay late and suggested I do a quick study of the watermelon that some had worked on that day. I really enjoyed chatting with her and relaxing after class. I also learned that my commute home was much better at that time as most of the rush hour has passed. I think I will do this again next week! Hope you weekend has been a good one. I have felt a bit "off" and plan to get busy in the morning starting with a good long walk to clear my head! Take care!
