Today was another great day in my studio shipping paintings, teaching in the afternoon and painting all evening. I did get a bike ride in around the neighborhood which was so hot! The bank said it was 97 at 7:00 and I believe it. I have been in a good habit of riding every night and I think I am going to add a walk in the mornings. I really enjoyed painting this little English Robin. He look so puffy and happy! Most of today I was planning a portrait class I am teaching tomorrow. I found a wonderful face of an elderly woman in a colorful headress to use as a reference. I love doing faces of any kind and really had fun preparing for this class. Many people fine faces intimidating and frustrating at first but if you break it down into shapes and a variety of darks and lights, it becomes easier. It is also helpful to turn the face upside down so you don't focus on the fact that is's a face so much! Hope your week is going well! Click to Bid!

I normally begin all my paintings with a coat of red acrylic paint or more recently in black. I find this works better for me than beginning with a white surface. Today was a busy one with a trip to Portsmouth to move my location from a studio to easel and display space. I really enjoy working at home the most but love being a part of the group and the monthly events. I also made a run to my favorite art store for supplies and worked on this cow. It was good to be back at my easel today after being away in New York for a few days. My nephew has a place in Manhattan and we were able to stay with him and spend a few days checking out the Big Apple. I really had NO idea how massive the city is and how crowded. The people from New York said it is really not as busy as usual because of the gas prices so I can't even imagine. We had some wonderful food and the weather was great. The tappas were delicious at Cafe Noir and great Italian at Porto Bella.

I had a request to do another pug dog and I also worked on a large cow today. While away I took some pictures of some beautiful roses given to my Mom. I plan to have some fun with those soon too! Well, hope you all have a great week.
