Norma Wilson Original Oil Foghorn Rooster Barnyard Art

Foghorn Leghorn

12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Boy did I have fun with this one! I think it shows. I will definitely be playing more with my palette knives and also different subject matter in the days to come! This one reminded me of Forhorn Leghorn from a cartoon popular during my childhood. Oops! Just dated myself. If you remember him I think you might see something of him in this rooster....i think it might be his feet!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Marsh Wren Bird Aviary Art

Marsh Wren

6" by 6" original oil on gallery wrap canvas with sides painted.
I enjoyed painting this bird with all the subtle browns and colors all lit up in the sunlight. I can only imagine the sense of peace these creatures must feel. If only we spent our days focused on the moment that intensely. The times that we do like when we are watching a sunset, walking in the woods, looking into the eyes of a loved one, paying attention to our own breath, bring a feeling of peace and connectness. With practice and attention we can increase those moments throughout the day. Hope your day today is filled with many peaceful moments!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Black and White Calf Cow Art

Sweet Calf

6" by 6" original oil on gallery wrap canvas with 1 and a half inch sides painted.

Tonight's painting was inspired by a little calf I saw standing next to its mother...standing very closely and looking so cute! Hope your weekend has been a good one. The weather was really beautiful here. Friday was a really fun day spent in Matthew's County taking a workshop with Dorothy Fagan who does the most beautiful landscapes! I really learned a bunch and had a great time with my artist friends from Olde Towne Art in Portsmouth.

Can you believe we are half way to the weekend again? Today was a beautiful sunny day here in Chesapeake. We had five straight days of rain without let up. Guess all the spring flowers are happy. Hope you will check out what I wrote in my listing about the birds and flowers. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to hug someone!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Pig Pals Farm Animals Art

Life Is Good!

9" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Awwwww aren't they cute! Young love is so sweet....actually it is pretty darn sweet at any age. Hope you had the chance to hug someone today! I have been thinking of when my boys were little and how often I gave and received hugs! No wonder people flip when they have their first grandchild. We humans need that contact and thrive on it. Teenagers are not quite as into
hugs but if you catch them at the right moment....they might not admit it but they like it too! I think I need to go hug my teenager. :-) It is a wonderful stress reducer and helps keep us grounded in the moment. Just remember....life is good!!!!

Two Penquins Kissing

Kissing Penquins
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."~ Melody Beattie ~
I loved this quote when I discovered it today. I had been feeling a bit down in the dumps and off kilter and decided that I needed to use my paintings, blog, and listings to begin to focus on gratutude, optimism, and hope. We are surrounded by stories of gloom and doom and people close to us may be going through tough times but we can always find something to smile about, someone to hug or kiss, or just share a smile or laugh. That is what I am going to be focusing on and hope you will check in with me and even share your thoughts on gratitude.
In my own life, I am SO blessed with three sons who I adore, a wonderful sister and brother-in-law, great nephews, a Mom who is still alive and well and keeping us all laughing, friends who have been by my side through all of lifes us and downs, work I love, pets to keep me entertained and who warm my heart, and so much more. I used to start my day thinking of these things as soon as my feet hit the floor but got out of the habit. It is when I forget these things that the stinkin thinkin comes creeping back in..... Really when you get right down to it....as long as you are breathing...there is hope! I feel better...hope you feel terrific and go fine someone or a treasured pet to hug or even hug your loved ones picture. I am sending a hug to you now for checking in with me! Have a wonderful day.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Potted Geraniums Floral Art

Potted Geraniums

3.5 by 4.5 oil on paper

What a cold day in Virginia...hope it warms up a bit before Andrew's scrimmage tomorrow. He is excited to be on his school's Varsity team this year. This weekend is the Ring Dance and he and his girlfriend Morgan are going with all their friends in a limo. Oh, to be young again! Actually we didn't go to the dances in a limo! I have been very busy working on commissions this week but hope to get more paintings ready to list for the coming days. I enjoyed doing this piece on gessoed paper. It is nice to change up the surface sometimes.
