Noble Apple by Norma Wilson

Noble Apple

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted.

"Surely the apple is the noblest of fruits." -- Henry David Thoreau, Wild Apples

Not only is it a noble fruit but oh so good for you! Remember your mother telling you that an apple a day keeps the doctor away? I had a great day today painting with my friend, Barbara. She worked on a beautiful sunset and I had fun with my palette knife and was inspired by the apple I got at Panera's today at lunch. As you can see I was in the mood for color!

This painting is 70.00 plus 6.50 shipping and handling. You can click on the buy it now button or be the first to e-mail me at normasart@cox.net.

Norma Wilson Original Oil White Rooster Chicken Hen Art

Rooster Gives Us The Eye

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted. What's not to love about roosters? Well, perhaps when they wake up at the crack of dawn and wake the rest of us up.....ever live with anyone like that? Some days I wish I could muster that much enthusiasm! Anyway, they have great character and color and wonderful profiles!

Norma Wilson Cow Painting

Angel In The Field

12" by 12" on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted.

What a busy weekend in the studio! The paint was flying with several commissions and fun with palette knives again! I worked on one of my favorite subjects...a beautiful white cow but this time done with knives. It sure uses a lot of paint but I am hooked on the texture!!! Let me know which you prefer! While I was in my studio out of the heat and painting...what were you up to??

Norma Wilson Original Oil Seascape Palm Tree Beach Art

Tropical Dream

12" by 16" oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted

This painting was a joy to paint as I have spent a couple of wonderful tropical vacations in such scenic places and have lived near the ocean all my adult life. Can't you just see yourself sipping something cool and refreshing while scanning the scene for some dolphins? Have you ever swam with the dolphins? That is SO COOL! I'd love to it again.
My friend Barbara came today and we painted together with Ella Fitzgerald and Michael Buble playing to give us inspiration. I did manage to get paint all over me as usual. You would think after all this time...I could keep it on the brush. I also worked on two other pieces which will you will be seeing in the next couple of days. I am loving my new Canon Powershot camera and took some great pictures of the cook today at Kyoto's Japanese restaurant. I plan to do a painting of him too!
This painting is available for purchase. Contact me at normasart@cox.net.

Wren In My Garden

Wren In My Garden

I have really been enjoying painting birds lately. I think I just have spring on my mind. All is in bloom here with profusions of azaleas and dogwood. Last week I purchased a new canon powershot camera with 10 megapixels and this is my first painting to be photographed and posted using it! I am SO pleased with it as the pictures are so much clearer and it is so compact! I can fit it in my jean pocket and take it every where! This piece can be purchased directly for 70.00 plus 4.50 shipping and handling.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Valentia Irish Cow Cattle Art

Neighbor's Cow On Valentia

12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

More fun with knives! I am quickly getting hooked on working with palette knives but it sure does use a lot of paint! That is so much of the charm to me...the incredible texture that it gives the painting. I am off now to the beach for the evening. The weather is spectacular! Hope you have a terrific weekend!

Baltimore Oriole Bird

Baltimore Oriole

6" by 6" on gallery wrap canvas with sides painted.

Hope your week has been going well. I had a lovely evening at Harbor's Edge where I teach on Fridays. They had their annual April In Paris dinner and art show. It was a delicious dinner and fun to see everyone's work all framed and on display. It made me want to come home and paint which I did! Tomorrow I am going back to Cobbs Creek, Virginia for a follow up workshop with Dorothy Fagan. I'm really excited about it. I loved painting this little bird as I love color!!!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Female Cardinal Bird Painting

Cardinal In My Garden

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Just wanted to share a quote I read today...
Carmen Colombo shares this on wishing:

Do you realize that if you Wish ONLY Well,
you can create your own world into what you wish?
And what is your own world?
It's the place in life where you are:
your present conditions, circumstances, family, friends,
work, environment - in other words, your LIFE.
By Wishing ONLY Well, you make your own world
AND
the whole world better.
It's neither altruistic nor selfish....it's logical!
You reap what you sow. Of course that doesn't mean that
exactly what you did will be done to you.
That would be too easy. It means that you will never know
the exact moment that you will shine or will fall,
depending on how you live your life.
Choose the high road, and expect the best.
You create your own world, and by extension the whole world, every minute.

Hope you enjoy this painting and is you are interested in having a special pet in your life immortalized, let me know! This sweet little basset painting is available for 70.00 plus 6.50 s & h.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Cat In Garden Kitty Art

Spinning A Yarn!

18" by 24" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted

This kitty sure looked like he was having fun while out in the garden. I love to watch animals playing so intensely and truly enjoying the moment! We humans could use more playful moments that keep us grounded in the here and now. That is what painting does for me....time ceases to exist and all seems well in the world! Hope you enjoy this painting. Have a great weekend! This painting is
available for 229.00 with shipping and handling included in the purchase price!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Black and White Hereford Cow

Black And White Hereford Cow

12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Today's painting is another product of an incredibly fun afternoon working with palette knives and lot of paint at my easel! I was drawn to this cow's sweet and somewhat cautious expression and love the black and white agains the green of the background. Knives and thick paint give lots of rich texture to the surface and gives the piece the look of mosaic. Thank you for checking in with me and for reading my blog.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Irish Cottages Landscape Art

Kerry Cottages By The Sea

12" by 16" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

What fun I had today working on this piece! I love working with a palette knife and lots of paint and this subject is of a scene from one of my favorite places....Ireland! My mother is from this beautiful place so I grew up with Celtic music, corn beef and cabbage, and wonderful summers romping around the seaside with my cousins. It was like a dream for this city girl who grew up in Philadelphia surrounded by row houses and concrete! It was like stepping back in time and still is as I experienced a couple of years ago in Valentia with my friends on a painting workshop. If you stood on this road long enough, I am sure a herd of cattle would come by on their way to the field above and a farmer on a tractor coming up behind.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Male Chaffinch Bird Painting

Male Chaffinch Bird

6" by 6" original oil on gallery wrap canvas with sides painted.

It was really cold tonight at Andrew's soccer game. They lost. Next one is Thursday night. I did manage to do a painting today of a sweet little finch that is very common in Britain and around other parts of Europe. I loved his subtle color and markings and had fun painting him! Since my taxes are ready to go to the accountant and I am all caught up with errands, I should be able to spend much of my day in my studio tomorrow painting! Yeah! Hope your week going great. I want to share a quote with you that I found today. Denis Waitley:

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Floral Bouquet Still Life Art

Backyard Repose

18" by 24" original oil on gallery wrap canvas with 1 and a half inch sides painted

This piece has been a process that began with setting up the still life on my deck one day last spring when I brought home these flowers to give to a friend and couldn't resist photographing them for a future painting. Then one day, I worked on it using a palette knife and brush and almost completed it in one sitting. After more months of enjoying it in my studio and letting it speak to me, I added the finishing touches tonight. I had planned on beginning another piece but it spoke to me and said, NOW! I am learning that it is best to do as I am told. :-) Hope your weekend has been a good one. I have not posted these last few days as I have been finishing up some commissions and all kinds of other stuff! Have a great week!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Red Cardinal Bird Painting

Red Cardinal On A Limb

Today's painting is another one done with palette knife which I have been greatly enjoying lately. I have been super busy with soccer games and taxes and tomorrow I am off to Matthew's County to attend an art marketing workshop. When I return, I will be full of new enthusiasms and strategies! Watch my smoke! Have a great Thursday!!
