Norma Wilson Original Oil White Charolais Cow Cattle Painting Art SOLD

White Charolais Cow Draws Near  SOLD

O Ireland isn't it grand you look--
Like a bride in her rich adornin?
And with all the pent-up love of my heart
I bid you the top o' the mornin!
John Locke "The Exile's Return"

Incredible and Unforgettable Ireland Show at London Square Gallery was a wonderful event on Saturday night with paintings from a group of my fellow artists and myself featured from a trip we made to Valentia Island. Thank you to Scott London for doing such a tremendous job of organizing the show and making it such a gala event for us all to enjoy! It was great to see all of you and to get a chance to visit and share my latest work. The show will be hanging through April 30th so if you missed the opening there is still time to to stop by London Square Gallery at 4410 Colley Avenue in Norfolk. I will be adding a link tomorrow of a few pictures from that night. The painting featured today is sold but if you are interested in having me do a commissioned piece or like any of the other paintings listed in my online gallery, contact me at normasart@cox.net.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Goose Bird Painting Art

Loosey Goosey

12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Such fun with a palette knife! Working with knives is challenging and a wonderful
way to keep things loose and fun. I had a great time working on this one and can't wait to work with a knife again soon. More texture to come! For more information on this painting, contact me at normasart@cox.net.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Sunflower Floral Portrait Art

Sunflowers In My Studio Completed

14" by 18" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted

Today was a perfect day here in Chesapeake and I could not think of a better way to celebrate the beginning of Spring than to finish up this sunflower painting. I took my daily bike ride around the neighborhood when I completed this and listened to my pandora station on my cell phone. Lots of folks were out and about working in they yards putting down mulch, planting pansies, kids playing ball in the streets. It was all in all...a great day. For more information on this piece or any others in my online gallery, contact me at normasart@cox.net.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Bird Painting Aviary Art

Purple Martin

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Still swooning from my WONDERFUL birthday but managed to get a couple of paintings finished and feel my painting slump easing up a bit. I have been getting more requests for birds so I painted my first purple martin. You know I love color so this one fit the bill. I also love them because they eat one of my least favorite insects....the mosquito! We sure get a bunch of them here in Chesapeake and our trips to the Outer Banks always have really pretty purple martin houses for sale along the side of the road.
I will be finishing those sunflowers....they died while I was away and I am going to get a new bunch to paint and to share with my painting class at Harbor's Edge this Friday. Hope your week is off to a great start! Thanks for still checking in with me even though I have not been posting as often!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Sunflower Bouquet Floral Still Life Art

Sunflowers Aglow Stage 1

14" by 18" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted

Today was a day filled with many activities but not as much time in my studio as I had hoped so this painting is going to be completed in stages. I decided to photograph the progress rather than not posting again! I sure have had a lot going on lately and have an exciting trip planned for a few days this week to celebrate my birthday and to see Michael Buble in concert so I will not post again until Friday unless I have time tomorrow evening. The sunflowers will have to wait to be finished to completion. If you are interested in purchase information on any of my works, contact me at normasart@cox.net. I will have my blackberry with me while away.
I have been in a bit of a funk painting wise....I know other artists can relate so if anyone has any suggestions or painting inspiration ideas...please drop me a line. I am hoping my time away will give me new perspective and you never know.....maybe I will be painting Michael Buble! Tha's not a bad idea.....

Norma Wilson Original Oil Carolina Wren Bird Art SOLD

Carolina Wren  SOLD

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted. For more information about this painting, contact me at normasart@cox.net.

Singing one of the loudest songs per volume of bird, the Carolina Wren's "tea-kettle, tea-kettle, tea-kettle" is familiar across the Southeast. It is a common bird in urban areas, and is more likely to nest in a hanging plant than in a birdhouse.
