Norma Wilson Original Oil Llama Animal Portrait Art

Sunlit Llama

12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

I really had such a productive day yesterday working on several paintings but I think this gal was my favorite. Such a proud face! It is so much fun being an artist because you never quite know what it going to happen when you put brush to canvas and begin to create a rapport with your subject. In the beginning it is pretty technical and formulaic but quickly after the initial lay in the wonderful dance begins. It is hard to describe but it is pretty terrific. Occasionally the dance is kind of rough and there is more stepping on each other feet happening but for the most part, even those times usually resolve happily if you take time to breathe and back up a bit. Well it is almost time for yoga class. Thanks for checking in with me!

Pretty Llama Girl!

6" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Happy Holidays! I have been taking a bit of time off to enjoy family and the festivities. I have worked on a couple of commissioned pieces but this is my first post in a week or so. Hope you had a great time over the holiday season. I can't believe it is almost the new year! It has been a good year and I have had a wonderful time with my three sons all under one roof and visiting friends and girl friends. I made two big pots of chili...one beef and one turkey. There have been a lot of football games on downstairs. I took time out to watch Mamma Mia with my son Patrick, and his girlfriend, Tessa. We might go see the new Brad Pitt movie in the next couple of days.

I will need to get lots of time in at my easel in the next week as I will be in an upcoming show at Norfolk Collegiate soon. There is also a show at the Artists Gallery called the Fabulous Forgeries that I'd love to do.....yikes. Well, thanks for checking in!

Llama Mamma!

9" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted.

It sure is cold here in Virginia! There was even rumor of snow flakes but I haven't spotted any so far. I did manage to stay pretty warm today in my studio with all my spot ligts on and lots of good painting. I completed a new cow which I just listed and also this fun piece. It is my first llama and it was quite fun. Hope you like it too. Tomorrow is a teaching day as well as time to begin two commissioned pet portraits. Both are labs so I am sure that will be fun especially with time drawing near when Sean and my "grandpuppy", Brewsky, will be home for Thanksgiving. I will have to get used to keeing all food off the counters! Enjoy the day today!
