Norma Wilson Original Oil Black and White Hereford Cow

Black And White Hereford Cow

12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Today's painting is another product of an incredibly fun afternoon working with palette knives and lot of paint at my easel! I was drawn to this cow's sweet and somewhat cautious expression and love the black and white agains the green of the background. Knives and thick paint give lots of rich texture to the surface and gives the piece the look of mosaic. Thank you for checking in with me and for reading my blog.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Irish White Cow Hereford Art

6" by 6" original oil on gallery wrap

Hope you all had a great weekend. They sure pass by so quickly. For the first time ever, I got my tree up and decorated before December 1st! The tradition growing up in my family was to decorate the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. I LOVED doing it that way as it seemed to make sense when all the Christmas presents had been purchased and wrapped to begin the celebration of Christmas by adorning the tree and setting up the train set while listening to holiday music or watching an old movie. For many years I resisted doing it much earlier but have given in to the way the world works these days, I guess. We barely have time to experience Halloween when the stores begin advertising Christmas. Many people have their trees and outdoor lights up on Thanksgiving weekend and you see the trees out in the street only days after Christmas is over! We used to celebrate the twelve days of Christmas....like a season of celebrations and time to go visit all the relatives and see their trees. I remember keeping our tree up until about the 5th or 6th of January. Well, enough of that trip down memory lane. The tree is up and I had a wonderful time putting it up with my friend Lena, her husband, Ron, and brother Johnny who have helped me celebrate this way for the past few years. I went back to putting old fashioned tinsel on the tree instead of garland and it really looks pretty. I am looking forward to a new week in my studio of pet portraits and new pieces for my store on eBay. If you have anything you'd like to see....I'd love to hear from you! Click to Bid!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Irish Cow Cattle Animal Art 3

Tonight's post is a 12 by 12 oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted making framing optional. I just posted it for auction on eBay! Today was quite the busy day as it began with a surprise call from a fellow artist and dear friend calling and asking me to meet her for lunch. She spends the summer in Ireland at her cottage there and conducts artists retreats. It was fun to see her again. The afternoon was spent with two of my sons running errands for back to school supplies and helping my college graduate prepare to move up to his first job and apartment. When I returned I managed to work on two new paintings and completed this one. My studio is a pretty good mess and so is the rest of the house but I feel soooo much better after spending some good time painting. I keep thinking one of these days everything will get nice and organized and my days will run smoothly............I am afraid I may be delusional. The truth is....life is really good...even in the busyness. Hope your day was good too! Click to Bid!
