I started this piece with my students at my Saturday class. They love painting cows with me. I
think my affection for them is contagious. The world just needs more cows to adorn their walls.
And I am here to paint 'em. Not sure what's on the painting docket tomorrow. Some times, I just go in and look at my reference photos or at art magazines and will be inspired by a color I see or see a photo that I have passed by bunches of times, and suddenly, I just have to paint it. Weird, but that is
how it works for me. What do you find inspirational?

I was just on the farm where my husband has rented space in their pole barn to build his BBQ smokers from scratch! The farmer was going out to check on his cows and we got invited to ride along! Oh my goodness! I had so much fun surrounded by all kinds of cows and calves!... took lots of pictures...just on my phone though...I thought I'd try to paint one using the looser brushstrokes that I've so admired in your work!
p.s. ...was thrilled to find a new cow in my inbox today! :) ...been studying some of your paintings...i love the one that is in subtle shades of green and red, I was trying to figure out where the light was coming from...then i realized how you were using the light and dark contrast to draw the eyes towards the beautiful cows face...i gazed for a long time and so enjoyed your use of color and light and dark...it was fun when i noticed the touch of blue above the cows back, next to the orangish red color of it's back...so lovely!
What pretty eyes, and what a beautiful girl!

Sounds like my kind of day, getting to hang out with the cows! Glad you were able to get some pictures and the more you paint, the looser and more confident your brush strokes will become! Thank you for your sweet comments!
