Norma Wilson Original Oil Cow Calf Bovine Farm Animals Painting Art

“Those Eyes”

©Norma Wilson, 8” by 10” original oil

Spent most of the last few days with a crashed computer and deciding on either the new iPad Pro that is 12.9 inches and a new MacBook Pro. I have two weeks to see if the iPad will do the trick but I am not sure as of now. Any other artists out there strictly use an iPad?

"Standing Alone"

SOLD

I've always wondered what the gulls do to keep warm at night and when I lived at the beach and would head down to the beach early, they would all be huddled together and very quiet. So I guess sticking together is the key. This guy was photographed in the summer sun so he is happy taking a break from flying and looking for food!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Sheep Animals Farmhouse Decor Painting Art

BAAAAAA!!!

SOLD

Hoping your week is going well. My studio has been a beehive of activity with classes and lots of painting going on! That makes me very happy. This sheep looks very focused and in the moment.
I think that's one of the reasons I love animals. Staying present and appreciating the "NOW" comes
naturally to them. They help remind me to stay present. That's all we really have.

This scene reminds me of the beaches we saw out in California when we lived in San Diego and also up in Rhode Island. This piece was so much fun to paint. I am enjoying these coastal scenes. Yesterday my nephew and I took a walk along the boardwalk here in Virginia Beach and the weather was gorgeous! It was hard to believe that mother nature was playing havoc to our south! Hope wherever you live that your week is going well. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Hatteras Sunset Landscape Seascape Painting Art

"Hatteras Sunset"

© Norma Wilson, original oil on board, 8"by 10"

My son visited Hatteras along the outer banks of North Carolina this past week and send me a text with a photo which said, "paint this mom!".  I wish I had been there to enjoy such a beautiful sunset!
When you think about the limited amount of sunrises and sunsets we all have in our lifetime, we should probably make it a point to spend that time watching them more often!  As I am not more of
a morning person, I think I have a better chance with sunsets! :-) Hope you enjoyed the Labor Day weekend. Mine was very relaxing and now I am excited about the week ahead with lots of commissions and paintings ahead! Thank you for stopping by!

Back to oils for this piece. But may try doing one in pastels soon to see how they compare. One thing for sure is that it is all fun. This weekend I had a great time with family, spending time with my sons and daughter-in-law.  The weather here in Virginia was heavenly yesterday with temperatures in the low 80's and a nice breeze! Time to head to the ocean and spend some time with some seagulls! Have a wonderful day!

Norma Wilson Original Pastel English Robin Bird Painting

"Ready For Take Off!"

© Norma Wilson, original pastel on canvas  5" by 7"

Contact me for more information.

It has been at least ten years since I broke out my pastels and decided to paint with them.  Early on in my art career, I painted exclusively in pastel.  When I started painting in oils, I decided to devote my time to learning and growing as an oil painter and then made several moves that afforded me less space to work in several mediums.  I stuck to acrylic and oil. Now that I am home to my house in Chesapeake, I can spread out and have plenty of room! So I set up a pastel room. Below is the block in stage on a pastel board. I like to get some base colors that I see established and build from there. Usually after the main colors are in, I begin to work the darks more building up from there in a back and forth way adding in nuances of color and adjusting my drawing as needed.  It was amazing how comfortable I felt after being away from pastels so long.

I am excited to do more this week. As you can see, I had more than a few pastels
just waiting for me to dive back in!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Cow Cattle Bovine Farm Animals Portrait Painting Art

In The Mooment

© Norma Wilson, original oil on canvas  5" by 7"

Another busy week has come to an end already.  I have been having so much fun working
on some new small works in oil and yesterday, I broke out my pastels after about a ten year
hiatus! It felt like I never stopped.  I know there is much to catch up on in the pastel world...
new papers and supports and I am sure new pastel manufacturers. Tomorrow, I will share
my efforts and supplies.  Another effort this week was painting acrylic pet portraits on clear Christmas ornaments.  If you'd like more information on how to commission your pet on an
ornament, send me an email at normasfineart@gmail.com. Here is an example.

By The Sea

I love to paint these small up close and personal portraits of nature's creatures. This fella seems to be
taking it all in and in the moment. As life gets more distracting for us humans, it is refreshing to spend time in the presence of birds and animals who can help bring us back to the beauty of "now".

I loved the softness of this white owl so decided to play that up with a soft white background as well. I am very pleased. Those eyes look so endearing but I bet a mouse would NOT agree!

Back, after another trip to the Apple store with my computer. My cursor was going crazy with a mind of its own. It needed a new trackpad and seems to be behaving now. So this piece was actually posted to eBay a couple of days ago. Hope your week has been a good one. And now the holiday weekend is here. Stay safe!
