Is it just me or does it seem like 100 degree temperatures in early June are a bit much?  It does get me our early to ride my bike when there is still a breeze.  I loved painting this boat today and I imagined there was a soft breeze blowing and the beauty of the marshes were magnificent like when I first saw this boat!  I also loved the seafood I enjoyed thanks to the hard work of these boats and the fisherman who work them each day.
I really enjoyed working on a larger painting which I did in two sessions.  If you would like to see the original block in above...just scroll down!  Hope you have a wonderful day and thank you so much for checking in on me.  I am still working on putting my first painting demonstration on here and youtube but have been having technical difficulties.  :-(  Also, I am a bit late on my newsletter but had sent out an email saying that I am doing a 20% off discount for my subscribers and collectors.  You just have to send me an email if you fall into these catagories!  I will still be doing my drawing for a free painting for the month of May.  Please keep checking back!

Work In Progress..

 Work In Progress...
12" by 16"

I had to smile when I typed this title...when ever I get frustrated with myself with all my quirks and imperfections, I have to tell myself...you are just a work in progress!  Hopefully making some headway!
This painting was started today during my time painting with Scott London.  He was working on a beautiful Irish landscape in palette knife and I just got started drawing this one in and then blocking in the main colors.  I still have much work to do but I got a good start.  I began with a white canvas and used a small brush and a little burnt sienna paint with thinned with turpenoid and quickly sketched in the horizon line, marsh area, shrimp boat and poles and then painted in what is called the local color.  Next painting session I will concentrate more on the value changes within each shape and adding more depth and texture.  It won't be until the end that I will add some of the wonderful details like all the masts and cool parts of the boat.  I did this scene about a year ago as a small study and I look forward to delving into it a bit more.  Hope you have a super duper weekend!  I am going to spend tomorrow on some house projects and have a pool party to go to on Sunday.

Journey's End

8" by 8" original oil on panel

$195

Yeah...it's the weekend!  Not sure why I enjoy the weekends so much.  I work at home and pretty much do a lot of the same things but it just has a different, more laid back feel on the weekend.  Today was a great Friday painting with my friend Scott who owns a gallery in Ghent. His gallery is so beautiful!   I worked on this boat while he was working on some coy fish.  I love palette knives!!  I switched up and worked on panel instead of canvas and I liked the how the paint applied on the harder surface.  I plan to continue using the boards.  I am also going to be offering table top easels with my smaller pieces in the coming weeks.  I am waiting on my order.  Afterwards, I headed over to Harbor's Edge for class with the ladies.  It was SO windy by the water.  I think March winds came way early this year. Well...have an awesome weekend!  I love all your comments and emails!
