There's something about pears that make them the perfect fruit to paint. There's an elegance about them. I loved the composition and that it contains my favorite color...red! Today was my day off from painting and it was the perfect do nothing day. I need those days sometimes. What do you like to do to relax?

Over the last six months, I have shared that I am part of a masterclass of artists growing their businesses and art. Part of this process is learning about our values and becoming more aligned with them. I have always loved animals and find such great joy in painting them. I was becoming more and more conflicted that my diet included so much of what I paint! So in April, I quit eating meat. It has been so much easier than I thought and has been a a wonderful transition for me and has had some great health benefits as well. Another influence has been The Gentle Barn with is a sanctuary for abused animals and I see daily posts on my Facebook feed. My favorite stories are about Dudley, the bull, and Madeline and her calves. Now, my next mission is to visit Dudley in Tennessee and to give him a hug. :-)

This was a quick study done with my acrylic class.  I plan to do a larger one in oil soon.  I never

tire of painting pears.  Lots of places for shadow and light to play on their surface.  A couple of

times while in the fruit isle at the grocery store, I have stood holding pears up and 

propping them on my hand with visions of paint flowing across the canvas.  Not sure the other shoppers

know quite what to make of it.  :-)

This piece had some of my favorite things to paint....anything red, great contrast of light and dark, and the wonderful reflections on glass!  Before I learned to paint glass, I thought there must be a special paint for it or something unique to learn that you would only do when painting glass but was amazed to learn that it is just the same as painting anything else.  Just paying attention to the lights and darks, lost and found edges, shapes and really seeing what is there instead of painting what you think is there.  It is a challenge that I really enjoy and even though I say that I want to paint less detail...I really do find joy in the details!    Hope you have joy in the details of your day and I so appreciate your stopping by!

It's an apple time of year with the temperatures dropping a bit, children back to school, pumpkins

at your farmer's markets mums, and a crisp red apples.  Just had a memory pop up of bobbing for apples at a party held by my piano teacher when I was a child.  How fun!  Hope you are enjoying September so far.  It is one of my favorite times of year!  Thank you for stopping by!
