Apple Still Life Food Art Fruit Painting

Apple Delight!
5" by 7" original oil on panel
150.

It's an apple time of year with the temperatures dropping a bit, children back to school, pumpkins
at your farmer's markets mums, and a crisp red apples.  Just had a memory pop up of bobbing for apples at a party held by my piano teacher when I was a child.  How fun!  Hope you are enjoying September so far.  It is one of my favorite times of year!  Thank you for stopping by!

Apple Gala!

Apple Gala
$125

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Today was challenge # 5 was to paint fruit and to first cut it up to give it interest.... so I took a gala apple out of the frig and cut it up to make a pleasing composition.  I am really happy with it and had a lot of fun painting it! I spent the day earlier painting and visiting with my friends and giving each other inspiration and encouragement. You can see all our work at Claudia Finn's blog. Claudia Finn's Blog She is doing a really cool series of horses!  I am going to include a piece that I have been working on below that is a different kind of challenge that I am doing on my own.  I wanted to play with minimal details using line and color and it is a wonderful thing to paint something different like this.  It is a 24 by 30 so the size was a fun change also.  Hope you had a great day today.  I am a day late with my challenge but have been working on a pet portrait commission that I will share when it is finished and my client says it is o.k. as it is a surprise present.  My next challenge # 6 is to whip something up.  The example in the book is of all the items that go into making lemonade. Hmmm...not sure what I will come up with but we will see....Any ideas on what I can name this little girl?  Thanks for all the encouragement and help.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Sunflower Bouquet Floral Still Life Art

Sunflowers Aglow Stage 1

14" by 18" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted

Today was a day filled with many activities but not as much time in my studio as I had hoped so this painting is going to be completed in stages. I decided to photograph the progress rather than not posting again! I sure have had a lot going on lately and have an exciting trip planned for a few days this week to celebrate my birthday and to see Michael Buble in concert so I will not post again until Friday unless I have time tomorrow evening. The sunflowers will have to wait to be finished to completion. If you are interested in purchase information on any of my works, contact me at normasart@cox.net. I will have my blackberry with me while away.
I have been in a bit of a funk painting wise....I know other artists can relate so if anyone has any suggestions or painting inspiration ideas...please drop me a line. I am hoping my time away will give me new perspective and you never know.....maybe I will be painting Michael Buble! Tha's not a bad idea.....

Norma Wilson Original Oil White Day Lillies Floral Art

Today's post is a 10" by 10" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted. It is currently on auction on eBay.

I was drawn to this piece as it was a study in white and it was very challenging. I learned a lot doing it and had fun. Today was a day of unexpected occurences. I spotted a huge stain on my family room carpet and on further investigation began to suspect it was the ice maker on the frig leaking. It leaked into the dining room as well damaging the hard wood floor. Hmmmm. I learned from my neighbor what to do so I notified my insurance and got Servpro out here. I am pretty impressed with what they did. I'll know in a few days if the floor or carpet needs to be replaced. In spite of all of this, I was able to paint for quite a few hours and I am pretty pleased with the past couple of days work. Hope your week is going well. It's almost the weekend!
