Norma Wilson Dog Art

SOLD
Jake The Pound Pup!
12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Such a face! What a cutie.  I thoroughly enjoyed working on this little guy who reminds me of a dog from a movie called, Please Don't Eat The Daisies!  I know I have dated myself with this but it was a cute movie and I love the dog in it!
I had shared with a collector that I was thinking of doing some portraits of dogs that were adopted from the pound or cats actually and she sent me this photo of her dog Jake.  I have decided to donate five percent of all sales to a local rescue group and let you know how  much as it goes on.  I need more photos to keep this going.  The Artist Gallery is having a show next month featuring dog and cat paintings so I can give any my donation to the group that is associated with that show.  It used to be the annual Cat Show but they are including dogs this year as there are so many dogs in need of adoption because of the economy.
Well, the snow has begun and we are supposed to get 2 to 4 inches now.  I am fortunate to work at home and don't have to drive anywhere so I retain that childhood excitement whenever the snow begins.  I went to the store to stock up on some basics and just as I left the store the first flakes began to fall.
Tomorrow will be a big day in my studio finishing another commission and working on a few other paintings that I have started and need my attention. I am still getting rid of 100 things a day...to be honest I lose count but it is pretty close and it feels GREAT.  I am finding all kinds of stuff too!  Hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping to visit me!!!  Send me pictures!!! I am also looking for cows, roosters, and anything else you would like to see me paint!

Jake is sooo cute!! You did a fantastic job painting him. And I love your cow paintings, too! Well done!

I hope to paint another challenge from Carole's book in the next couple of days! I think I'll skip #3 for now and go to another one.

I've watched Please Don't Eat the Daisies at least 100 times! Love that movie!! :-)

I think he is adorable! And what a good thing you are doing to donate a portion of the proceeds! Fab idea! Animals are such a gift, aren't they?

Thanks Roxanne! I know you are over snow but I could sit here all day with coffee and just look outside! I had better get back to my easel...my work awaits! Have a great day!

Norma,
I share the same excitement about snow as you
do, and it is nice to not have to go anywhere
outside in it, unless you wish to!
Doing more marketing this week than painting.
Just wanted to comment that Jake looks
quite a bit like my Topo. Congrats on the sale!
