Today's painting is one of my favorite breeds. I have two black labs as "grand dogs" and that has made me partial. I have painted them numerous times so I decided to do a white one. I also love painting white animals as there are so many colors reflected on the fur. Hope your week is going well and I thank you for taking time to check in!

Such a face! I have spent the past year taking a masterclass with Lisa Call which has helped me to zero in on my values and focus on increasing my productivity and joy in the studio. I have not blogged in awhile but have been having a blast since Christmas painting what makes me happiest!

I actually had an epiphany moment when I realized that it is o.k. to embrace that I love to paint animal portraits and not feel that I need to be painting still life, floral, landscape, and seascapes too.

Unless I feel drawn to it as  much as I am to these faces! I literally have a smile on my face for

hours as I work on them. I must admit to talking to them occasionally too. It doesn't get any better than that. 

To help me keep smiling and spending lots of time in my studio, I am planning a thirty animal portraits in thirty days project beginning March 1st. I need your help. Stay tuned for more details in the coming week...

Jake The Pound Pup!

 Such a face! What a cutie.  I thoroughly enjoyed working on this little guy who reminds me of a dog from a movie called, Please Don't Eat The Daisies!  I know I have dated myself with this but it was a cute movie and I love the dog in it!

I had shared with a collector that I was thinking of doing some portraits of dogs that were adopted from the pound or cats actually and she sent me this photo of her dog Jake.  I have decided to donate five percent of all sales to a local rescue group and let you know how  much as it goes on.  I need more photos to keep this going.  The Artist Gallery is having a show next month featuring dog and cat paintings so I can give any my donation to the group that is associated with that show.  It used to be the annual Cat Show but they are including dogs this year as there are so many dogs in need of adoption because of the economy.  

Well, the snow has begun and we are supposed to get 2 to 4 inches now.  I am fortunate to work at home and don't have to drive anywhere so I retain that childhood excitement whenever the snow begins.  I went to the store to stock up on some basics and just as I left the store the first flakes began to fall.

Tomorrow will be a big day in my studio finishing another commission and working on a few other paintings that I have started and need my attention. I am still getting rid of 100 things a day...to be honest I lose count but it is pretty close and it feels GREAT.  I am finding all kinds of stuff too!  Hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping to visit me!!!  Send me pictures!!!
