taking it all in and in the moment. As life gets more distracting for us humans, it is refreshing to spend time in the presence of birds and animals who can help bring us back to the beauty of "now".

Ever marvel at how a baby can lift their leg and put their toes in their mouth?  Bend completely in half with gumby like moves? Well, I find it hard to believe I was ever that baby.  Ever since I can remember, I have been unable to touch my toes, barely reaching past my knees.  As a child I took ballet lesson for about two months and could barely lift my leg up on the parallel bar, let alone reach my ballet slippers.  Unfortunately over the years, I have started and stopped yoga more times than I can count. When I began my master class with Lisa, I decided that becoming flexible was no longer going to elude me.  I have had a chart from Yogabody that shows how to break down stretches five days a week using your weight to deepen them and extending the time each week.  So I began March 1st.  Now I can touch my fingers to the floor! And I can sit in a lotus position and touch my head to my knee. So, what is the difference? I have had this chart for a couple of years. Accountability for me has been key. And knowing this is a year long project of reaching for my goals and breaking it down to what that looks like each day.  In my next post on Tuesday, I will share how stretching is impacting my art!

• Oil Painting Classes, Ongoing -  Tuesdays 10-1  Wednesdays 6-9

          Classes Held at The Art Studio in Virginia Beach.

          Drop In and Monthly Rates.

          Classes are very loosely structured with students working on subjects of their 

          choice.    

          One week every month, we do a paint along, varying subject matter and     

          focus. This is your time to paint with my guidance as needed.

          

• Acrylic Painting Classes, Ongoing held at Hilltop Michael's Arts And Crafts.  

        Different painting subject each week!

•   Private Lessons in my studio in Norfolk. 2 hour Session

          Private lessons offer students the ability to learn in a nurturing one on one     

          environment. 

          We can focus on areas of concern and work to develop your skills. One on one  

          attention and help you move ahead in your painting more quickly focusing on 

          drawing, composition, color and brushwork.   Two hours of private instruction        

          for 80.00.

Hope you have had a great week and will be able to get out and enjoy this lovely weather this 

 weekend!  I have had a busy week and have some exciting news for those of you who live locally and  

 been interested in taking oil classes with me.  I will be holding classes starting this coming week on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 10 to 1 and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9.  They are at a space in the Pembroke area called The Art Studio.  Drop ins are 25.00 and there is also a monthly rate.  Please contact me for more information.  It is mostly working at your own pace on projects of your choosing but I will also be doing some demos and subjects that people can follow along with me.  My email is normasart@cox.net.  Hope to hear from you!  Summer time is a great time to get creative and unleash that artist within!
