#128 Day Three Dreama's Workshop French Flower Market

#128 French Flower Market
12" by 12" original oil on canvas with sides painted
325.

The party is over...how wonderful it was to spend three days learning with Dreama and even though we are all so excited by what we learned and soaked up from one another, it was sad to say goodbye.  Today we worked on individual pieces.  In the morning we did a fun exercise where we switched easels and everyone got to paint on each other's painting. We would have about four minutes at each painting and then we would move one to the right.  It was very freeing and so fun to see how the last person had worked on the piece.  That will find a cherished spot in my studio as a remembrance of our time together.  In the afternoon I worked on  this street scene and working to keep shapes simple and the focus on the people and the flowers.  As I look now, I will probably add some yellow flowers in front of the two and do just a bit of tweaking before I leave for home tomorrow.  Last night, Susan and I went to a yoga class which was not something I have done for months so today I find myself happily exhausted from the workshop and dreaming of an epson salts bath....calgon take me away!!  What a treat it has been and I am so grateful for the time to spend with Susan, my fellow artists and of course, Dreama.  Awesome teacher and lovely person!

#114 Sand Crab Adventure Seascape

#114  Sand Crab Adventure Seascape
14" by 18" original oil on canvas with sides painted
600.

Today's theme for our painting group was seascapes with people.  I first saw these two boys on a trip to South Carolina.  They reminded me of when my boys were little and shared many an adventure on our trips to the ocean.  They loved the little sand crabs that are so speedy as they run along the beach and dig their way into the sand.  I loved playing with all the colors I saw in the water and the texture and movement in the water.  Capturing the moment that the children were experiencing together was great fun.  We all really enjoyed this theme and I  know with so much inspiration surrounding me that there will be more!  Have a wonderful day...hope you find time for some fun and adventure!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Girl Dancer Reaches For Light

Well, I did it! I finally organized my new office going through all my paperwork and updating my files. Not exactly an exciting Labor Day but I feel so much better beginning the new school year routine. I haven't painted in several days so as soon as Andrew leaves for school tomorrow, I am heading to my studio to get some painting done! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend....whatever the plans were.

Today's post is from a picture given to me by one of my son's college friends. His girlfriend was the subject of this painting and I thought she was a pretty subject to paint. It is a 24 by 30 on wrap around canvas with sides painted. To see this painting, click on my ebay store!
