Those eyes look a bit apprehensive.  I've been found and might need to get away quickly. Or perhaps she hears a sound which has her on high alert. I love to study animal faces which is why the format I love is that of a portrait. My neighborhood is wooded and fox sightings are not unusual. I have never seen one up this close though. Dancing Divas!

Love the light on these sweet flowers and how they seem to be dancing! O.k. so you have to use your imagination. :-) As I am SO VERY excited to be back in my home after six years of beach and then city life, each day is so special as I appreciate things such as having my own garden again. I have oodles of space for new plantings but out front I still have a few perennials that made it through the six years that I was away and renters who didn't quite love them as much as I do. I took a picture today of my first Shasta daisies standing tall by my front steps! I have been talking to an expert in native plants for our
area and hope to add some more to the front soon. Perhaps some wild azaleas and ferns.
I didn't even know the value of using native plants and just how many common flowers and shrubs are not native to our area. Less water, fertilizer, and pesticides are just a few
benefits. And the bees, insects and birds are happier too. See how much my life is enriched by having a garden again?

My thoughts are with my readers and collectors that were impacted by Hurricane Matthew. Many in my area lost electricity and suffered damage from flooding and downed trees. One fellow artist had a tree fall in her living room. And we weren't even one of the states that got hit the worst. Wishing everyone a safer dryer week! Thank you for stopping by. One Of My Favorite Tools In The Studio

Goose Goosey Gander

One of my favorite tools in the studio is this signing tool. It is a wipe out tool by Kemper. The rubber tip pushes away the oil paint and reveals the color of the canvas below. I especially like when I use it when I have tones the surface of the canvas with red. It works best when you complete a painting in one session or sign before it is completed. As I worked on the painting above in stages, I used an oil pen instead.  I used an oil pen above which are another nice invention. Another option is the old fashioned way of using a fine pointed brush and some paint to do the job!
