This time of year when school begins and autumn approaches, thoughts begin to turn to the holidays. Paintings this size are the perfect size for gift giving or perhaps "gift asking"? :-o

Birds are one of my favorite subjects and judging from how many I have sold over the years, they hold a special place for collectors as well. I love the colors of the bluebird as they combine the complementary colors of blue and orange which is such an exciting combination.  Do you have a favorite bird that you would like to see me paint? Favorite color combination?

This painting is named after one of my favorite childhood poems!

Chicken Little Chicken Little Stood around Underneath a tree. Something fell and Hit her head. She said, "Goodness me!" "Oh my goodness!" She did screech. "The sky is falling!" She ran around Yelling out, "We must tell the king!" Goosey Loosey Was the first To hear Chicken's tale. I think they both Must have been Drinking too much ale. Goosey Loosey, Chicken, too, Saw Ducky Lucky. They told him, and Then he said, "That is quite sucky." Cocky Locky Was their next Stop along the way. They told him, and He freaked out. He joined them that day. Foxy Loxy Walked right up, Eyeing the small group. He looked right at The Chicken And said, "What's the scoop?" Chicken Little Told the fox, "The sky is falling! If we want to Save our skins, We must tell the king!" Foxy Loxy Said he'd help, But they had to run. Foxy Loxy Chased them and Gobbled up each one. It amazes Me how this Whole thing got started Because I threw A rock at Chicken Little's head. Eric McGill

   I had so much fun today...on day two of my break through!  I was a little nervous this morning wondering if yesterday could have been a one and only experience.  Ye of little faith.  I cranked up my tunes after taking Bailee for a long walk and got to work on a couple of paintings.  I forgot to mention that I also moved my palette to the other side of the room to my french easel and am standing to paint.  It is something that most art schools suggest and I think it helps in many ways...to keep the blood flowing and also to keep you range of motion freer and the ability to back up and look at your painting from a distance.  I really want to stick with this routine.  I am also posting at 5:45 in the evening instead of 10 o'clock at night!  Hope your day has been a good one!  Thanks for the wonderful feedback about yesterday's post!

I decided to blog in the morning as I seem to be painting later and later and have no words at the end of the evening! This year I find myself less stressed and feeling less compelled to "make" a Christmas experience for everyone. Instead I am focusing on each day and each moment as it comes and just enjoying my family. I feel so grateful for so many things and I am choosing to focus on those things rather than unrealistic expectations that have whirled around my head in Christmases past. I am grateful for all of you who keep me painting at my easel and share your life and have included my paintings in your gift giving. It gives great purpose to my days and such joy!
If you live along the east coast you might be seeing some snow this holiday season....hope you can stay inside a bit and enjoy some hot chocolate and a warm fire. I was watching Elf the other night and the part where he is chatting with the snowman and the large snowflakes were falling. It reminded me of when I was a child and the snow flakes would pile up on the metal part of our storm door. You could look at each individual snow flake and see how unique each was and how beautiful. I don't think I have had that experience since! I found myself wanting to make paper snow flakes to celebrate the miracle of snow! Wonder if I could find a picture of a snow flake and paint one??? Well, it looks like I have more words in the morning. Have a wonderful Friday!
