rain and thunder and lightning. There is something kind of comforting about a summer storm
cooling the earth after a very hot and humid day. So many things change in our lives but some events like the sun rising in the morning, the moon at night, the sound of rain and thunder...ahhhh. Not sure why I am feeling all poetic about it all at the moment but alas...I am!
Have you ever imagined what life would be like without birds? I think about things like that too and I can't imagine it...they provide such color and music and so much to watch when you are out in nature or even doing the dishes in the kitchen! It was great getting back in my studio today and getting back to work! I stopped first at Jerry's Artarama and picked up some paint and canvases. I also got some free DVD's to watch of some of my favorite artists at work. It is a great deal if you have not checked them out. You can keep them out for 2 weeks without giving them a deposit but they keep your credit card on file in case you lose one or don't return them.
Tonight is Andrew's last soccer game of the season. The weather is nice so it will be great sitting
out in the bleachers. Sean and his dog Brewsky began their trek along the Appalachian Trail today with friends. I wish I could observe some of the antics I know they will be getting into. Brewsky is in his element and even has his own doggy backpack. My other son, Patrick, is picking them up when they get forty miles along and will bring them back. They were going to try to do it for ten days but one fellow got a job and another had an opportunity to go on a trip.

Hope your week has been a good one. It has flown by for me and this weekend I will be attending Andrew's soccer tournament in Richmond. It will be nice to be out in the fresh air and away from paint fumes for a couple of days. Then I can't wait to get back to it! I really enjoyed painting this bluebird and the softness I was able to portray through color and edges. Thanks for checking in!

Today was another busy day in the studio working on my pet portrait commission of a hound dog. He is coming along nicely and should be finished tomorrow. I also worked on this bluebird painting as I have had several requests for more birds...especially bluebirds. Tomorrow I will be doing another small cat portrait and perhaps start a new rooster.
