Norma Wilson Original Oil Autumn Road Landscape Trees Foliage Nature Paintings Art

"Autumn Woods"

©Norma Wilson, Original Oil, 8" by 10"

The air is getting that cool crisp feeling once again. My two favorite seasons are Spring and Autumn. Time to get out the extra blanket and drink some hot chocolate.  I had fun staying a bit more loose and impressionistic with this piece. It is always the goal but sometimes quite a challenge not to tighten up again! What are your favorite things about this time of year?

Loosey Goosey Bird Painting Landscape Art

Loosey Goosey
12" by 12" original oil on canvas with sides painted.
295.

This painting is named after one of my favorite childhood poems!

Chicken Little

Chicken Little
Stood around
Underneath a tree.
Something fell and
Hit her head.
She said, "Goodness me!"
"Oh my goodness!"
She did screech.
"The sky is falling!"
She ran around
Yelling out,
"We must tell the king!"
Goosey Loosey
Was the first
To hear Chicken's tale.
I think they both
Must have been
Drinking too much ale.
Goosey Loosey,
Chicken, too,
Saw Ducky Lucky.
They told him, and
Then he said,
"That is quite sucky."
Cocky Locky
Was their next
Stop along the way.
They told him, and
He freaked out.
He joined them that day.
Foxy Loxy
Walked right up,
Eyeing the small group.
He looked right at
The Chicken
And said, "What's the scoop?"
Chicken Little
Told the fox,
"The sky is falling!
If we want to
Save our skins,
We must tell the king!"
Foxy Loxy
Said he'd help,
But they had to run.
Foxy Loxy
Chased them and
Gobbled up each one.
It amazes
Me how this
Whole thing got started
Because I threw
A rock at
Chicken Little's head.

Along The Coast

Along The Coast
$125
6" by 6" original oil on panel

This piece was done on Friday during my time spent with my friend, Scott London.  H worked on some coy fish and I worked from a tropical island which really was only a jumping off point and what I ended up with almost a bit abstracted.  I enjoyed it!  This weekend has been busy working on my entryway and dining room, priming it and getting ready to paint the both a classic gray.  I think I will enjoy the change and then I will want to work on the moulding and baseboards.  I am thinking of super white for them.  For years moving to new duty stations with the military, I couldn't wait to be somewhere permanently so I could my walls in bright colors.  Now, I am wanting to do everything neutral! I guess because I spend my days with all kinds of colors...I just want soothing and simple on my walls.
Well, I really had some wonderful response to my request to pick a name for my last post.  I chose an entry by Brenda, who sent in Looking For Green Pastures.  I also want to thank Jerry who suggested Brown Velvet, Pat for, Beauty At The Least, Sharon, for Pretty In Pink, Claudia for, Five a.m Is Mighty Early, Morna for, Sweet Thing, Barb for Brown Velvet also and Bessie.  Luanne suggested Sweet Georgia or Brown Eyed Girl, MaryAnn for Helga, and Sonny suggested,Stormy. As you can see by all the really creative, and thoughtful names....I couldn't pick!  So I went to Random.org and let them pick a number that corresponded to a list of all the names.  I REALLY would love to keep these titles and use for future use. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!  It is so much fun to hear from everyone.  Hope you have had a fabulous weekend!  To show my appreciation....I am offering 10 percent off of any painting to these wonderful ladies who sent in names!  Also, remember if you have not signed up to receive my newsletter and daily blog posts to your inbox....you will be entered monthly for a free painting giveaway!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Chincoteague Landscape Art SOLD

Memories of Chincoteague

9" by 12" original oil on canvas

This piece was done on a plein air painting trip to Chincoteague up on the Eastern
shore. It was a beautiful day in September and a group of us arists were gathered along the road facing this scene with our portable easels and paint brushes in hand. Towards the end of our painting session, the famous Chincoteague ponies were in view and were close enough to capture on film using a zoom lens. Those pictures were saved to use as references for future paintings.

I was pleased with how this one turned out as it captured the serenity I felt that day. This piece is sold but if you would like information on having a painting commissioned or any of my other paintings, please contact me at normasart@cox.net.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Irish Landscape Seascape Cottage

Cottage By Galway Bay

6" by 8" original oil on masonite board

Many yearsago, on a trip to Ireland with my mother, we traveled with my Aunt and cousin from Waterford to the other side of Ireland to the rocky west coast of Galway. This painting was inspired by a photograph taken on that trip. I used to dream as a little girl of returning to Ireland to live in one of these little cottages that dot the seaside and seem so enchanting with their white washed exteriors and thatched roofs. Today I was able to live a little bit of that dream while I painted. I did this small study in preparation of doing a large one for my mother who wants to put it over her sofa. Then I can almost walk into it and stay a bit! :-) Hope it will remind her of her homeland and bring a smile to her face each time she sees it. Norma Wilson Original Oil Irish Cottages Landscape Art

Kerry Cottages By The Sea

12" by 16" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

What fun I had today working on this piece! I love working with a palette knife and lots of paint and this subject is of a scene from one of my favorite places....Ireland! My mother is from this beautiful place so I grew up with Celtic music, corn beef and cabbage, and wonderful summers romping around the seaside with my cousins. It was like a dream for this city girl who grew up in Philadelphia surrounded by row houses and concrete! It was like stepping back in time and still is as I experienced a couple of years ago in Valentia with my friends on a painting workshop. If you stood on this road long enough, I am sure a herd of cattle would come by on their way to the field above and a farmer on a tractor coming up behind.
