Oh Clementine!

Oh Clementine!

Purchase Information

Such fond memories were conjured up as I painted today's paint along with my oil class. As the mom of three sons, I tried to keep foods on hand that would satisfy the snack urges that would come along with time spent on homework. Our store carried small crates of clementines and it was amazing how quickly they would disappear! They are so easy to peel, unlike oranges and are so delicious! Turns out they are pretty fun to paint as well. I can't seem to get enough of red and orange and even had fun painting a woven basket.

Apple Gala!

Apple Gala
$125

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Today was challenge # 5 was to paint fruit and to first cut it up to give it interest.... so I took a gala apple out of the frig and cut it up to make a pleasing composition.  I am really happy with it and had a lot of fun painting it! I spent the day earlier painting and visiting with my friends and giving each other inspiration and encouragement. You can see all our work at Claudia Finn's blog. Claudia Finn's Blog She is doing a really cool series of horses!  I am going to include a piece that I have been working on below that is a different kind of challenge that I am doing on my own.  I wanted to play with minimal details using line and color and it is a wonderful thing to paint something different like this.  It is a 24 by 30 so the size was a fun change also.  Hope you had a great day today.  I am a day late with my challenge but have been working on a pet portrait commission that I will share when it is finished and my client says it is o.k. as it is a surprise present.  My next challenge # 6 is to whip something up.  The example in the book is of all the items that go into making lemonade. Hmmm...not sure what I will come up with but we will see....Any ideas on what I can name this little girl?  Thanks for all the encouragement and help.

Today I began my day with another great bike ride. The weather is so gorgeous and when I came home intended to work on a portrait I have been working on and a cow commission but this beautiful mango was sitting in my kitchen begging to be painted!
Sometimes you just have to follow your inspirations! It made me smile the whole time I painted. Hope it makes you smile too! For more information on this piece or any of my other paintings, please e-mail me at normasart@cox.net.

Norma Wilson Original Oil Clementine And Cherries Art

Clementine, Cherries, And Blue

6" by 6" original oil on gallery wrap canvas with 1 and 3/4 inch sides painted.

Well, I had so much fun working with thick impasto paint and palette knives that I did it again tonight. It sure is cold here in Chesapeake. My son called to tell me that they were without water up in Blacksburg, Virginia where he is in school at Virginia Tech because it was 2 degrees this morning! Well, hope your weekend goes well. It's time to clean my palette knives and brushes and call it a night so I can get up for yoga tomorrow morning. It's been awhile but I am excited to get back into good habits!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Pineapple Fruit Food Art

Welcome Pineapple

Pineapples are so much fun to paint! I see so much color in them and love to play that up and also they have such great texture! Combine that with my favorite color, red for the background, and it makes for great fun! This piece is an original oil on wrap around canvas with 3/4 inch painted sides and is 10" by 20". It would make a lovely statement in a dining room or kitchen or even in an entryway as the pineapple is such s symbol of welcome. I just purchased a new door knocker for my front door that is a pineapple. I am going to paint my front door yellow and my shutters red. They are a boring dark green now. Not sure what the neighbors are going to think but after all.....an artist lives here!!
