    Did you know that Leonardo da Vinci spent 12 years working on the

Mona Lisa's lips?  Or that Paul Gaugin worked as a laborer on the panama canal's construction? Over 25,000 workers lost their lives working on the

canal.  This weekend I stopped to get a sandwich and the local paper had

a trivia section which was fun to read so I decided to look up some art 

trivia!  Wonder if Leonardo was struggling with to smile or not to smile..

maybe she had bad teeth.  

    This painting is one I did awhile back and I don't often repost but I 

learned from my gallery in Richmond that they have had a couple of sales

of my paintings and since I took the weekend off spending time with my

boys, my grand puppies, chillin, and shopping and all kinds of fun stuff...

thought I would just say hi and show you this bovine gal that has found

a new home up in Richmond!  I hope you were able to stay cool and have

some fun this weekend.  I bought a new pedometer and made my goal of

10,000 steps a day.  I learned that I could do a bunch of loops around my

house and up and down the stairs to fit a few thousand steps in at the 

end of the day!  My dog Bailee looked a bit perplexed as I was on "my

walk!"  Have a wonderful Monday and keep smiling! :-)

Cows, Monkeys, and Taxes.....

Ever had a monkey on your back and feared this monkey had been on your back so long and was so dug into you...that you might never find a way to again walk tall and monkey free???  Well, as I have shared, I have made great strides removing a couple of persistent monkeys from my shoulders....they are very broad and felt a bit lighter for awhile but I am not free yet!!!  This task is little when you actually deal with it on a regular basis. It  is my sales and use tax for the biz.  I was going to do my next painting challenge today but decided that extreme measures were necessary...I would have to work through the day and night if necessary to get on top of this monkey and pry it free once and for all.  It has involved several chats with online operators and a fax with my amended mistakes, etc but I will prevail!!! I will no longer buy my own $%$# that says that I can't figure out this stuff.
    I am excited to share this painting with you...one of my favorite subjects!
Hope your day has been monkey free or at least that you are getting the upper hand in your monkey war!  Maybe I should think about painting a monkey....

I love to watch the cows as the day comes to an end walking slowly towards the barn....returning home for an evening's rest. I imagine this one is all lit up with the glow of evening and following Mom through the pasture.

I am sitting in my MUCH cooler studio tonight. It turns out my very old system was slowly leaking freeon and the coils needed a good cleaning too. I enjoyed working on this little calf very much, especially all the texture with the hay. Tomorrow is my teaching day in Norfolk. I am planning on painting quite a bit this weekend with perhaps a bit of yard work thrown in and time out for a bit of fun. Hope your Friday is a good one and weekend too!

I had a busy day in my studio working on this piece, and began a new black lab using my favorite model, Brewsky. I will be posting it tomorrow night. They lost but it was a beautiful day and such fun to sit out in the evening breeze and be a part of the gathering. I felt very grateful for all my boys and all the fun I have had watching them play soccer. Hope you week is going well. I will be busy painting again tomorrow during the day and also getting ready for Sean and Brewsky coming home for the summer. I have to batton down all the hatches as my grandpuppy is quite a character. He is full of endless energy and loves to give very sloppy kisses. Nite.
