Just finishing up my in my studio for the evening. I worked on several paintings, switching back and forth a bit and it was quite productive. Sometimes it works out that way as I have been exercising the creative muscle and get into a zone where there is less thinking and more flow of paint and joy! Every once in a while I find a little nuthatch or wren on my screened porch when I have left the doors open to let the dogs come and go but today I found a beautiful blue jay paying a visit. We finally got it out and back to it's home in the trees but I really got to see one up close for the first time. They really are lovely and have such pretty markings.

This little study was done while teaching at Harbor's Edge Retirement village. One of the ladies brought a post card that she had found that was from the 1920's. We didn't have any information on it so that is all I can tell you. It was black and white and quite different from what you see. There were people on the dock and in the boat which was moored and next to another boat. I imagined that they were loading up for their journey and getting ready to set sail. Mary, who brought the postcard, did her own version of the card and I did mine and it was so much fun! I worked in many layers which is different from the way I usually work in oil. I want to do more seascapes and landscapes now!

More fun with a great new surface I discovered while back that is watercolor paper with epoxy added making it very versatile. You can frame this without a mat or glass but I am including a white mat so that it can be famed in a standard 8 by 10 frame. I liked the pose on this gal!
