Sunflower Rhapsody!

Sunflower Rhapsody!
12" by 16" original oil on canvas
395.

Didn't quite finish the last highlights yesterday so I wait until today to post it.  I really had fun with this one and painted it very slowly and deliberately which helped to keep my brushwork fresh!  I do love sunflowers!  Hope you like this one too!  I always welcome comments!  Hope your weekend is going well.  I stayed in most of the day with my dog, Bailee, and grand puppy Jet at my side.  He came for a sleepover and brought his giant bed.  It has been difficult for him to sleep in his own bed because little Bailee is lounging in the middle of it, convinced that she is entitled to sleep in it.  Why do little dogs think that way?  I also worked on a beach scene today that I will post tomorrow.  Take care and thanks for stopping by!

What a fast week!  Just came back from another yoga class which was called "Mellow" yoga.  If that was mellow...I won't be going to any intense classes any time soon!  I have been really working on painting more earlier in the day so I can have my evenings for dinner with Andrew while he is home for the summer and for evening yoga classes.  I was successful today and it felt great.  It also allows me to get a better photograph while it is day light.  I began this painting using transparents again as I learned in my workshop last week.  It allows the pure color to show through after the more opaque paint is put on and also shows in places that have not been covered at all with other paint.  At this point it feels like I have to focus more the whole way paying attention and being more mindful of each stroke but I think that it s good thing as it keeps it from being overworked.  Hope you have a fantastic Friday!  So happy you stopped by!

Norma Wilson Original Acrylic Pansy Floral Still Life

6" by 12" original acrylic on canvas board

Hope it was a good productive Monday for you. Mine started slowly but got in high gear and I feel good about all I accomplished. My house looks so Christmasy from the other night so that was very inspiring. I shipped out a few paintings, one to Canada so I had to go to the post office. Lots of laundry was done in between and I even made up a batch of friend chicken which pleased the teenage crowd. This painting was done a couple of weeks ago when I was teaching at Harbor's edge. I did a demonstration and had picked these flowers out of my own garden on the way out to the car. Sometimes the last minute inspirations are the most fun. I love the contrast of the colors of the vase and pansies against the neutrals of the background. Hope you like it too! Hope you are taking time to smell the roses or pansies in this case as the season gets in high gear. :-) One of my students is a master gardener and loves the smell of pansies!

My Favorite Things

8 by 10 oil on canvas

Today was a catch up day around my house. I finished up on a commission that had taken many hours the last few weeks and hope to post it tomorrow evening after I get permission from the family who commissioned it. This piece is one that was done quite awhile back of some of my favorite things. I received this little Waterford crystal vase from my grandmother who passed away years ago. I have done many little paintings using it and unfortunately it broke making this little painting even more special. The lladro was given to me by my Uncle in England on a visit to America. The necklace was worn on a special occasion and given to me by my mother. It is not available for sale but I thought I would share it with you. If you would like to commission me to do a painting for you, please contact me at nswilsonandco@cox.net. Thanks for stopping by!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Autumn Floral Pumpkin Art

Hope you are all having a great Labor Day weekend. Mine has been productive....cleaned out the garage today. I haven't posted for a few days which is a first since I began this blog to go so long. My computer crashed the other day and I decided to buy a new one. My old one was only 11 months old but it was the second time it crashed. My new one is an HP and is it awesome...I'm still learning all of its capabilities. The old one was a Gateway and when I get it fixed, I plan to use it as a back up.

Today's post is a 16 by 20 original oil on canvas and is currently on auction on eBay. Thanks for stopping by!
