Little Tabby

Little Tabby

8" by 8" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

I absolutely love painting fur. As you can see I exaggerate the colors that I see a bit but when you really look closely...you do start to see these colors in an animal's fur!
This little tabby is available for purchase.  Email me at normasart@cox.net for a price or more information on having
a custom portrait commissioned of your pet!

Rooster In The Spotlight

 Rooster In The Spotlight
9" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

It has been said that art is a tryst, for in the joy of it maker and beholder meet.  ~Kojiro Tomita

Spent the morning updating my available paintings on my blog and looking at the most beautiful view of the water here in South Carolina.  The marshy grass and winding waterways are breathtaking.  I will have to get some photographs so I can paint it when I return home to Virginia.

Irish Bovine Lady

Irish Bovine Lady
$125
6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Every child is an artist.  The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.  ~Pablo Picasso

This is a favorite quote of mine as I feel that every day I try to return to that little girl who used to play at her easel with wild abandon and did not have that inner critic nagging at her yet! It is not easy but the fleeting moments when it happens make it all worth while!
I loved the dramatic lighting on this little calf and her dramatic dark ears and nose!  Another great day of painting in my studio.  I will be headed down south again for a visit and to do some painting and looking for new inspirations!  Hope your Thursday is a good one!  Keep smiling!

Such A Face!!!

 Such A Face!!!

The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.
::: Pablo Picasso

12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

$295

This cow really got my emotions going...not sure what makes me have an emotional response but I sure felt it as this one began to evolve.  The colors and expression is charming to me.  Hope you like her too!  I spent much of today out and about running errands and going to my favorite art store.  I really could just set up a cot and live there if I could get away with it.  I still discover more paint colors, tools, brushes, canvas sizes, books, videos...etc., etc.  Like a kid in a candy store I am and I know my fellow artists can relate.  It is much like a man who goes into Home Depot and gets all glassy eyed.  I am sure there are women who do too....not me!  I want to run out screaming!  Oh well, I am planning on spending tonight in my studio working on some smaller paintings.

Yellow Warbler

 Yellow Warbler
6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.
Another one of my favorite birds to paint.  I worked on this on Saturday and the past two days have been spent priming my deck rails and the wood that wraps
around the screened porch.  It looks so much better painted.  I almost like painting on wood and walls as much as I do on canvas!  Next I will be re-painting the wicker.  It has been white and black so far....any suggestions for another color to try?  I hope you will join my mailing list for my next newsletter.  Have a great day!

Little Calf Returns From The Field SOLD

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Busy day of painting and shipping paintings today.  The weather was sunny and cool and our neighborhood was having a garage sale.  As I sat by my easel and looked out the window, I could see the people coming and going and happy garage sale customers leaving with their new found treasures.  It was a peaceful afternoon as I worked on new creatures to share and the wheels were turning on new pieces for the coming week.  I am always open to suggestions!  Hope your weekend is going well.  Keep smiling!

Village Rooster SOLD
6" by 6" orginal oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.
This little fella just makes me smile.  Roosters have that effect on me so I keep on painting them in different sizes and textures and colors.  He'd make a nice Christmas present for someone to frame and hang or sit propped on a small easel.  Hope your weekend is going well.  Been getting some projects done around the house and got my closet cleaned out in my studio today.
 Thanks for checking in!

White Cow In The Glen
12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted
More fun with knives!  I worked on this cow for hours and was not feelin' it!
So I found a rooster painting that I really loved that I did last year and used it as the inspiration for color and got my palette knife out and the fun began.   I just find when I am feeling uptight with my painting, a palette knife has a way of bringing a sense of play back into it.  I am happy with the results and know she will find a good home!
This piece if available for 295. plus 7. shipping and handling.  Just click on the button below to pay with pay pal or contact me for other options.  Thanks!  Have a great weekend!!

Out On A Limb

Out On A Limb
6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Great day in my studio today painting with Adele and had the window wide open with the sound of the leaves in the trees and cool Autumn temperature.  It was heavenly.  After much consternation with a cow I was working on, I was inspired by some colors in a rooster I had done and got my palette knife out and went to town.  I hope to have it ready to post tomorrow night.
I just returned from a new yoga class with a teacher that I had taken yoga with seven years ago.  I was thrilled to find her doing classes in her home and
it was awesome.  I will sleep well tonight!
