Miss Piggy's Lil Piglet

Miss Piggy's Lil Piglet
SOLD
5" by 5" on panel
$125

Guess I haven't gotten painting pigs out of my system.  I decided that Miss Piggy needed a wee little piggy.  I think he looks a bit like his Mum!  Well...didn't get as much accomplished today like my NEWSLETTER! I will get it out tomorrow as it is the end of the month!  I am not sure if it was the barometric pressure or allergies but my head has really been hurting the past two days.  My newsletter may be brief!  I did have a wonderful visit yesterday with my buddies, Adele, and Claudia.  We didn't get any painting done but had lunch and lots of fun and inspiration for each other.  I must share a picture of the quiche I made.  I don't often cook so I have to take pictures and share on the web!  You never know when it will happen again!

I was sure that Andrew would help me eat the leftovers but I guess real men DON'T eat quiche so I ended up eating all the rest! He doesn't know what he is missing!  Here we are with another holiday weekend approaching.  I'd love to hear from you about what kinds of things you do on the 4th or perhaps a 4th of July that stands out for you when you were a child!  I will always remember a fishing trip with my Dad, a neighbor, my sister and her boyfriend when I was nine.  We went to Cape May, New Jersey out in a little boat and fished all day.  I caught a ten pound flounder!  I was quite the city girl from Philly who rarely left our little neighborhood so this was quite the adventure!  I can still feel how great it was with the warmth of my sun burn that night sleeping on a cot in my parent's room by their GIANT air conditioner that was like a piece of furniture.  It was the only room in the house with it back then!  Such good memories and falling asleep to the fireworks!  That's my memory....night night.

Piggy Wiggy

 Piggy Wiggy
6" by 6" original oil on panel

I just love this pig and so enjoyed painting him!  I had a wonderful weekend with friends.  I consider myself to be incredibly blessed with amazing friends!  On Saturday, my friend, Lena, who is a whiz at organization and staying on task....helped me tackle my studio.  I have shared before that I have gone through things and purged and did my best to organize but I am no match for her skills!  In five hours we had gone through everything, totally refigured my painting area, inventoried all my supplies and even rehung the doors on my closet and put down new area rugs!  I felt like a little kid going into my space today feeling so much lighter and clearer in my head!  I had a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart for my dear friend who has been in my life for over 25 years now.  She does these things because she says she loves to do them but I see it as a true gift of love.
Next, I spent the day yesterday with my friend, Pat, who I hadn't seen in awhile.  We went to the ocean front and got caught up walking the boardwalk and enjoyed the most incredible weather.  Afterwards, we stopped and visited her parents who have a beautiful garden and they were so kind to share some of their plantings.  I grew up in the city and did not really learn much about gardening but love to spend time in beautiful gardens...especially cottage gardens.  When we left, we had hostas, purple ice plant, and several other ground covers and a tall stalk that looked like a hosta but wasn't.  I was out early this morning planting everything and thinking of more things I would like to add like shasta daisies, lavender, and hydrangeas.  They are some of my favorites.  So maybe this city girl might learn to garden yet!  Claudia, your garden got me inspired to do all of this!  So special thank you to Pat and her Mom and Dad, the Kressels for sharing their garden.  More reasons to be grateful.
Now while I am feeling so warm and fuzzy, I want to share with you, my subscribers and collectors a SIZZLING SUMMER SALE!  I will be offering 20% off to anyone who is a subscriber to my daily blog posts, newsletter, or has purchased from me in the past! This sale will run for the next two months.  Contact me at normasart@cox.net to receive your discount.  I will be sending out an announcement by email about it too.  I am SO grateful to all of you!!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Pig Pal
$125

SOLD

6" by 6" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Today was a snowy day here in Chesapeake and it was the perfect day to be in my studio painting
all day.  I worked on three pieces and this was the second one I completed.  I loved his expression and
all the colors I saw in his fur.  Pigs have such small eyes in proportion to their bodies but seem to be so
say so much with them!  Hope you enjoy this little guy.  For more information on purchasing this piece or
any of my other paintings, please contact me at normasart@cox.net.  You can also purchase a gift certificate by clicking on the button on the side of my blog.  It will take you to a page that gives you options for amounts and how to pay for them.  Thank you!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Pig Pals Farm Animals Art

Life Is Good!

9" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Awwwww aren't they cute! Young love is so sweet....actually it is pretty darn sweet at any age. Hope you had the chance to hug someone today! I have been thinking of when my boys were little and how often I gave and received hugs! No wonder people flip when they have their first grandchild. We humans need that contact and thrive on it. Teenagers are not quite as into
hugs but if you catch them at the right moment....they might not admit it but they like it too! I think I need to go hug my teenager. :-) It is a wonderful stress reducer and helps keep us grounded in the moment. Just remember....life is good!!!!

Pig Pals!

9" by 12" original oil on 3/4 inch wrap around canvas with sides painted.

I really found myself being charmed by these two. I have always loved animals but the more I paint them, the more that love affair grows. I am becoming more and more conflicted with eating meat too! Pigs really have some small eyes to paint but it is amazing how the spark of life and innocence is still able to shine through. The same applies with elephants....have you ever noticed the gentleness and sweetness that can be seen in the eye of an elephant? I'll have to paint one someday when I figure out how to do it. I mostly do small pieces for eBay...... Well, today was a great day which began with a REALLY long walk in the nice crisp air and some catching up on household chores. I am pretty tickled with tonight's piece and hope you are too! Have a great Tuesday!
