So much fun with all the coastal themed paintings of late! Those doing the bidding seem to like them too.  If you can't be on the beach, it's nice to be reminded of it! Happy Thursday. It's almost the weekend!

After the weekend spent mulching my front yard, it was great to get back to my easel. This is a piece I did awhile back that needed some more work to give it depth and for me to declare it finished.  Below is a photo of the "before". What do you think?

White Heron On The Beach Thirty Paintings In Thirty Days! Day Thirty!! Woo Hoo!

White Heron On The Beach

© Norma Wilson, original oil on panel 5" by 7

Not For Sale

This painting is a study for a larger piece so I will post the larger version some time in the next month. I am so HAPPY to have completed my challenge of thirty paintings in thirty days! I really do well when I am accountable and motivated by a challenge.  The last week I have given a lot of thought to how to continue the momentum and level of productivity.  I decided to join Lisa Call's Master Class.  It is a year long class with a group of artists working with Lisa to take their art and their business to the next level. She has been my coach for the last nine months which has been great and I have been making many changes to my business and life.  I think this new layer of group energy will be awesome.  She has two more spots left in the class! The class doesn't begin until March.  So, tomorrow, the plan is to make a collage of the month's paintings.  If I can not fit all thirty, I will at least do my favorite.  Then, I will be thinking of how I want to move forward and will share my plan with you then.  I have several commissions coming up including a pet portrait, a house portrait including two of the children, and a large portrait of a man for his family.  That should be a good start! Then there is all the business stuff and is so important but often gets lost in all the paint and paintbrushes! I will be getting my taxes together, recording receipts, working on my calendar, inventory, and newsletter.  And getting some of that paint off the hard wood floors. :-(  Thank you for joining me!

This is a piece that I demonstrated in a class.  I like how it turned out.  Kind of feels like this boat has been forgotten for while but probably had some adventures in its time.

Sailing, Sailing.. Thirty Paintings In Thirty Days Day Seventeen by Norma Wilson

This piece was done from my imagination.  I love to watch sailboats off the coast.  It seems so
romantic and fun but in reality....my inner ear does not cooperate and when they go sideways, my
heart jumps out of my chest.  Perhaps with more practice and a patch, I could overcome it but for now, I can watch and paint, and dream!   :-)

Purchase Information

Oh boy, I am feeling the burn of this thirty in thirty marathon!  Partly because I have a week coming up that I won't be able to paint so I am trying to get those paintings completed as well.  I had some fun tonight doing something that I have wanted to try with my leftover paint on my palette.  I will
try again tomorrow and share them with you next week.  TGIF!

Gully

Available Through Gallery

I seem to want to prolong the summer feeling with these gulls at the beach! Our weather is helping to do the same today with the temperature nearing 70 and a beautiful breeze coming in the window.  Others must be feeling the same as these birds have been finding new homes very quickly. Thank you to my new collectors!  I appreciate you stopping by and for leaving me your comments too!

Seaside Memories

One of my favorite memories of my children growing up is watching them play at the beach!  I still love to walk along the beach in summer and see families relaxing and spending time together soaking all the sights and sounds and the wonderful sea breeze!  This little girls seemed to be expressing her glee with her hands outstretched while her brother is busy at work. :-)  It was great fun to capture this in paint!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Thirty Paintings In Thirty Days! #14

Pelican

SOLD

6" by 6" original oil

Pelicans, deliberations finished,
Glide on my wings.
It's time to say: Until we meet again
To the palmtree shore.

What we saw - we saw,
What we heard - we heard - enough!
Twilight glides on pelican wings,
The sun sinks into the sea.

Beach Stroll!

Beach Stroll!

10" by 20" original oil on gallery wrap canvas with sides painted!

Strolling along the beach at that magic hour right before sunset when the light is so beautiful.  It is windy and a little chilly at the beach today.  Crazy how fast it started to feel like the fall.  Time for pumpkins and a fire in the fireplace soon!  Hope your week is off to a great start!
