Sneakers At The Door by Norma Wilson

Sneakers At The Door

© Norma Wilson, original acrylic on canvas 8"x 10"

So many memories of boys coming home after school and kicking their shoes off by the door. I never told them to do this but they always did and their friends followed suit. Lots of shoes meant lots of friends and fun being had up in the play room. Wish I knew how fast this time would fly by...

Norma Wilson Original Acrylic Sheep Lamb Portrait Farm Animals Painting Art

Feeling Sheepish

This piece was snagged quickly by one of my galleries and can be purchased through them at Red Queen Gallery in Onancock.   Just when I thought cows ruled the pastures, the sheep have been demanded by attention.  :-)  I think you might enjoy this video I found on Facebook.

A Different Perspective

A Different Perspective

© Norma Wilson, oil on canvas 6" by 6"

Off to a great start with about five hours in my studio today.  I decided that posting one day a week is not enough so I am mending my ways.  This morning I began my day working in a sketch book using some old watercolors that have been stored away in a drawer.  Feeling the need to just play and do some creative journaling just for me.  It really did just what I hoped and got me in the creative mode and before I knew it, I was cranking up the tunes and working at my easel.  I think I am on to something!  I really like this "edgy" composition.  Thank you for stopping by!

Happy New Year!  I am very excited to start off the New Year by participating in another 30 paintings in 30 Days challenge!  I love how it motivates me to get in my studio and get creative!  I hope you will follow along with me and see what each new day will bring.  Today's post is one of my favorite subjects to paint and she is a beauty who lives across the world in Valentia, Ireland.  She has a lot of character in her face and was a joy to paint!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Norma Wilson Original Acrylic Red Hibiscus Floral Portrait

Red Hibiscus

9" by 12" original acrylic on board

These tropical beauties are a favorite among many gardeners.  I remember my first introduction to them on a trip to the islands many years ago.  Our room had bowls filled with water and hibiscus floating in them.  It was such a pretty display and they would stay pretty all day.  Hope your week is going well.
Thank you for stopping by!

Pewter, Onions, and Walnuts

9" by 12" original acrylic on 3/4 in canvas with sides painted.

I love the light on this still life.  It is so much fun to paint subjects with strong contrasts like this piece.  Painting pewter was a new experience too.  I am pretty happy with it.  Hope you like it too.
Thanks for checking in with me!

New Beginnings!

It has been quite some time since my last post and I have made some changes in my life.
One change was a move to the city of Norfolk into the neighborhood known as Ghent.
I have been teaching down here for the last five years weekly and also spend time with
friends here so I decided to return to my roots as a city girl and make the move.  So far, I
love the change and last night took a walk in the snow and got some fun shots.

I love being able to walk everywhere and the feeling of community.  You can even take your  dog into the pharmacy and video store.  I truly loved my time at the beach and look forward equally to this new chapter in my journey.  I am living in an apartment built in 1917 and love the tall ceilings and hard wood floors.
I am still painting and wanted to share one from a class that I taught at Michael's.  It is acrylic and is looking for a new owner.  Send me an email if you are interested.  Have a wonderful day and stay warm!

Having fun with acrylics again!  It can be a welcome change to switch mediums now and again as it challenges you in different ways and keeps things fresh!  Yesterday I picked up my remaining paintings from the Nansemond Suffolk Show and was very pleased to learn I had sold four.  I also sold a couple in the Norfolk Collegiate show.  If anyone who purchased at these shows are reading this...thank you!  Everyone who gives one of my paintings a home helps keep me in my studio doing what I love!  Hope your week has been a good one.  We had a very noisy night of rain and wind and it sounds like further north will experience it as a blizzard.  Stay in and stay warm!  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!
