Norma Wilson Original Oil Kingfisher Bird Avian Wildlife Artist Painting Art

"Looking Back"

©Norma Wilson, original oil, 5" by 7"

SOLD

These Kingfisher birds sure look proud! I learned that many live near rivers and eat fish tunneling into the ground where they live. Or they live away from a river and eat small vertabrae. I have to share the photo below which is very impressive. Quite the catch!

It's been awhile since I painted a white cow on red. It is pretty striking. Still having fun on eBay listing some of my older pieces and new small ones as well. I am growing a following on there and it is exciting to see which subjects draw the most attention. I love the immediacy of response and the excitement of the bidding. Go ahead and check it out! I'd love your feedback on some subjects you'd like to see me paint!

One thing I know about this breed is that their owners are crazy about them! They must be very lovable and great companions. This one looks very proud to be captured in a portrait! :-)
Have a great weekend!

Just Passing Through

Just Passing Through

I am loving my series class with Lisa Call!!  She packs so much into the lessons about
design, artists who have worked in a series and even help with improving your studio discipline.  I highly recommend it if you really want to take on a challenge and deepen your creativity.  I actually do several pages of sketches before ever sitting down to my easel.

Hope your week has been going well.  I want to share a video with you that I saw one day on Facebook.  It really changed how I look at cows and made me love the even more.   I think it will make you smile.

Irish Mist Original Oil by Norma Wilson

Irish Mist

More work was needed.  This is a piece that I had posted in the past and was pleased at

the time but recently when I picked it up, I felt the urge to push it a little further.  I was very

happy that I did.  Much of my work lately has been about strong contrasts in light.  I am

really having fun exploring the drama that it produces.  What is your favorite time of day?

Thirty Paintings In Thirty Days! - Day Thirteen

Big Bear!

6" by 6" original oil on panel

I am never quite sure what the next day will bring.  I teach all day tomorrow so I may be doing a baseball card size painting tomorrow...perhaps a cow!  This can get pretty intense when you don't paint more than one on quite a few days.  But it is good discipline!  I even worked out which is my other discipline that I am developing.  Thanks so much for checking with me!  Have a great day!

I am excited to be joining the challenge to paint thirty paintings in thirty days!
Artist, Leslie Saeta. a fellow daily painter, got the ball rolling and does so many things to inspire her fellow artists.  I got started a day later than she did so will complete my challenge on October 1st.
Today's painting is one of my favorite subjects.  Such tiny little creatures that spread such joy and wonder every day.  Hope you enjoy!

I am getting so excited for spring to arrive.  It was so beautiful last year with the most beautiful gardens that I would pass on my daily bike ride.  I think the colors of this painting show a little of that spring fever!  Hope you are having a happy Monday!

Irish Dairy Girl

Having fun with acrylics again!  It can be a welcome change to switch mediums now and again as it challenges you in different ways and keeps things fresh!  Yesterday I picked up my remaining paintings from the Nansemond Suffolk Show and was very pleased to learn I had sold four.  I also sold a couple in the Norfolk Collegiate show.  If anyone who purchased at these shows are reading this...thank you!  Everyone who gives one of my paintings a home helps keep me in my studio doing what I love!  Hope your week has been a good one.  We had a very noisy night of rain and wind and it sounds like further north will experience it as a blizzard.  Stay in and stay warm!  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Rooster Chicken Art 3

Hello Again!

What a hot day it was today! I may have to start painting all night and sleep during the day. My air conditioner just isn't cutting it! I did manage to make it to my favorite art store...Jerry's Artarama and then worked on a pear painting, a small chocolate lab on gessoed mat board.....for a change and now I am about to begin a large rose. Tonight's post is another rooster....I am loving all the color! Hope you all had a great weekend. To bid on this piece.....Click to Bid!

Irish Cow Cattle Animal 2

Today's post is another one of my favorite white Irish Cows. This one is also 16 by 20 which is a different format that I am trying. It would make a nice companion piece to the other white cow which has a couple of days to go on auction on eBay. This one listed this evening. Hope you all had a nice day on the 4th of July. It was a lovely day here....today was much hotter and stickier. There were oodles of fireworks around here. They can be purchased legally over the border in North Carolina! Have a great day and thanks as always for checkin in!

Cow on Blue Background

Today's post is a 12 by 12 original oil on blue acrylic background. I have sold quite a few of these cows done on a solid blue acrylic background. The cow is done in a very thick painterly oil and makes for a nice contrast. It is on wrap around canvas with sides painted so framing is optional. It is currently on auction on eBay. I am excited to have my cousin Pauline visiting from Ireland. We just had dinner together along with my sister who brought her down from Massachussets where she lives. We are headed to the beach tomorrow after I spend the morning shipping paintings and working on a couple of pieces in my studio. I have a large floral which is a close up of pansies and another of gladiolas that will probably be on the agenda. It has been fun seeing so many paintings on the daily painters site. Our challenge for June has been very inspirational and we also have some new painters who have joined us. Hope you have a great day.
