It's been awhile since I painted a white cow on red. It is pretty striking. Still having fun on eBay listing some of my older pieces and new small ones as well. Didn't quite finish the last highlights yesterday so I wait until today to post it.  I really had fun with this one and painted it very slowly and deliberately which helped to keep my brushwork fresh!  I do love sunflowers!  Hope you like this one too!  I always welcome comments!  Hope your weekend is going well.  I stayed in most of the day with my dog, Bailee, and grand puppy Jet at my side.  He came for a sleepover and brought his giant bed.  It has been difficult for him to sleep in his own bed because little Bailee is lounging in the middle of it, convinced that she is entitled to sleep in it.  Why do little dogs think that way?  I also worked on a beach scene today that I will post tomorrow.  Take care and thanks for stopping by!

I love the bright colors of a bluebird and I have painted them often.  He looks proud puffing his chest out for all the world to admire!  Today was a much better day for ducks and geese with quite a drenching of rain that we very much needed.  My cucumbers are soaking it all up! :-)  Thanks so much for checking in with me!

I photographed this piece in three stages today to show the progression.  Wish I had taken on when I had it loosely drawn in but didn't think of it.  I though I was working on a gessoed panel but discovered with I was a ways into it that it was clapboard.  It is much more absorbent so it was a lot more like working with fast drying acrylics than oils.  I like how it turned out though and liked the challenge!

Stage 2

Kind of have to go backwards here but at this point I was blocking in the colors with opaque paint.

Stage 1

After loosely sketching this fellow using the space around him to help me draw as well as the actual form, I think used transparent oils to block in the color.  I used the rose color up top to help make the blue water a bit cooler and to peek through and a warmer carribean blue down below.  The bird has both ultramarine blue and dioxizine purple in the darker shadows of the bird and indian yellow in the body.  These colors did not mix as much as they normally would because of the clay board but it

gives you the idea.  Then I just start adding the colors in using a gray and white to mix with the transparents and also my favorite blue, Charvin's St. Remy Blue.  Whallah!

Norma Wilson Original Oil White Kerry Cow Painting Art

Today's post is of one of my favorite Irish Cows that I first saw in Kerry. It is a 12 by 12 on wrap around 3/4 inch sides which are painted making framing optional. It is currently on auction on eBay. Hope you are all having a great weekend! I saw my son off to college with his puppy, Brewsky today. The house seems empty tonight. The other dogs disagree. They are enjoying the peace and quiet and not having their tails bitten! Tomorrow will be a busy day of straightening house and lots of painting. I have two commissions to complete and a new one to paint for eBay. Life is good! Take care and remember to laugh! Click to Bid!

Irish Cow Cattle Animal 2

Today's post is another one of my favorite white Irish Cows. This one is also 16 by 20 which is a different format that I am trying. It would make a nice companion piece to the other white cow which has a couple of days to go on auction on eBay. This one listed this evening. Hope you all had a nice day on the 4th of July. It was a lovely day here....today was much hotter and stickier. There were oodles of fireworks around here. They can be purchased legally over the border in North Carolina!
