#135 Cows Headed Home

#136 Cows Headed Home
6" by 6" original oil on canvas with sides painted.
150.

Tonight, I decided to have some fun with a painting that I had done and was not happy with yet.  I added the transparent paints over the already painted cow and then went over it with opaque paints.  I like the glow it give to the painting and I am much happier today.  I had a great day today painting with Claudia and Adele.  We worked on cupcakes and had lunch together at my favorite restaurant...the Surf Club Grille at the Wyndham hotel at the oceanfront.  They have great food and a gorgeous view!  Have a great Thursday!

Daisy Moo

$325.

Buy It Now!

This special Moo Cow is a British Cow who was inspired by Angie who said she would like to see me paint a British Cow.  They are distinguished by a black tip on their front chest area and also by a dark muzzle.  I wonder how she feels about the Royal Couple?  I used one of the names that was give to me last week when I asked for help naming my cow.  Thank you Rita!  I am dead on my feet tonight as I have been spray painting wicker, cleaning out my attic, closets, etc. with the hopes of a new beginning down the road at the beach!  I see more seascapes, sea birds, and all kinds of beachy stuff in my future!  Hope you had a great Tuesday.  I may be blogging every other day for awhile! :=)

Precious Pearl

Precious Pearl!
9"by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted
$250.

It is one of those times again when my mind is a complete blank!  I am sure my sons would tell you that it happens all too often!  I like the softness of the bovine gal and her expression but the name is not happening!
I really enjoy your input!  I am so tired tonight.  I felt really restless today and headed to the oceanfront and just walked on the boardwalk a bit.  It was good to get out and take in some salt air but it was SO HOT.  It is supposed to be cooler tomorrow but no rain so far.  Hope you are staying cool.  I have been like a kid again eating lots of cool pops!  Nitey Night.

All Aglow!

All Aglow
11" by 14" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted
$350.

Don't you just love that time of day when nature is all aglow with the sun as it is setting?  I was inspired by this Irish cow and her peaceful stance.  It was so much fun recreating a special moment in time.
The kitchen is another story.  It is no longer "apricot"!  My son's first words were...oh, PINK!  I decided to head to the paint store the next day and decided on a really pretty color called Manchester Tan which is a Benjamin Moore color. It isn't finished yet but I am liking it much better!  This way anything I add to the decor will go really well and it has a very soft look.  When I went back to the store, I realized that they have giant paint chips!  Like two feet by two feet!  Sure wish I had discovered this a couple of weeks ago. :-)
So far I have a couple of ideas for workshops.  One is Paint Your Pet or favorite animal and the other if Fun With Palette Knives!  I think both would be really fun to teach.  I am working on a supply list and planning them for June.  Please let me know if you would like more information or to be added to the contact list!  Hope you week is going along great!  I am working fast and furiously on the house projects before Andrew gets home.  I think he will help me with some things but kind of wanted to surprise him with some of the changes.  Thanks for checking in!

Dreaming Of Green Pastures SOLD

Dreaming of Green Pastures
SOLD

$295

12" by 12" original oil on archival panel

I decided to try a new paint color by Lukas yesterday.  It is turquoise and really love the mix of cobalt blue and turquoise in the background.  This cow is looking for a name if anyone can help me think of one!  I usually post at the end of the evening after painting in my studio and sometimes my brain is fried! This is one of those nights so any help is greatly appreciated!  This one will be going to my gallery unless she finds a good home before next week.

I also want  to introduce you to my green eyed studio friend, named Rusty. Yes, I named her...probably when I was tired but she is only 5 and a half pounds and oh so sweet!  She is twelve years young and for most of her life she has had teenagers around to hang out with and I didn't see her that often.  Since my last one flew the coop...she is my new best friend.  At night she drapes herself across my lap and arms as I type.  Occasionally she walks through oil paint and tries to make her own paw paintings...not usually on canvas. She has been my model for more paintings than I can count.  She has won awards and is part of many collectors homes.  She just has that kind of face! :-)

Hope you have a great Friday!  I got started painting my dining room so I know what I will be doing
this weekend!  Thank you for stopping by!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Cow Art

Irish Valentine  SOLD
$295

12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

Love these big beautiful Irish cows that I first fell for as a child and was reintroduced to at a workshop in Valentia Ireland  run by my good friend, Barbara Lively Mastaglio.  She owns a beautiful house there and you can see these beauties grazing in her back yard overlooking the ocean. That trip began my love affair with painting cows!  Thought this one represented the upcoming holiday!
Tomorrow night I will be attending the show at the Artists Gallery, One Foot Square.  If you live in the area, please stop in!
I had a great day in my studio today working on a pet portrait commission and listening to Artists Helping Artists blog talk radio with Leslie Saeta and Dreama Tolle Perry.  One was on organization for us creative souls....an elusive concept for some of us...and goal setting for 2011.  I highly recommend listening to their programs!
For purchase information, contact me at normasart@cox.net!  Have a fabulous weekend!

Splendor In The Grass

 Splendor In The Grass  SOLD

5" by 7" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

  • This cow just struck me as not having a care in the world. I enjoyed painting a cow in relaxed post for a change.  I did her in two stages, blocking in the main shapes and background and today going in and adding the texture and details.  I enjoy working this way sometimes rather than finishing it all in one sitting.  Some larger pieces like an Irish cottage scene that I am going on commission, I spend quite a bit of time and in many sessions to slowly develop the details.
  • Thank you to a reader named Jerry whose suggestion for yesterday's shrimp boat painting was drawn out of all that were sent in to me.  I appreciate all the help from all of you!
  • Sometimes I get stumped about what to paint next, so if anyone, has an idea for me about an animal, bird, flower, place, for me to paint....please send me your idea.  If you have a photograph...that is even better.  The group Artists Helping Artists run by Leslie Saeta, and Dreama Tolle Perry have give us artists a challenge of something to paint and post on September 1st that has something to do with the month of September...any ideas on that one?
  • Hope you have a fabulous Sunday!  Keep smiling and thank you for checking in with me!!

John Locke "The Exile's Return"

Incredible and Unforgettable Ireland Show at London Square Gallery was a wonderful event on Saturday night with paintings from a group of my fellow artists and myself featured from a trip we made to Valentia Island. Thank you to Scott London for doing such a tremendous job of organizing the show and making it such a gala event for us all to enjoy! It was great to see all of you and to get a chance to visit and share my latest work. The show will be hanging through April 30th so if you missed the opening there is still time to to stop by London Square Gallery at 4410 Colley Avenue in Norfolk. I will be adding a link tomorrow of a few pictures from that night. The painting featured today is sold but if you are interested in having me do a commissioned piece or like any of the other paintings listed in my online gallery, contact me at normasart@cox.net.

Norma Wilson Original Oil White Irish Cow Appears

12" by 12" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted. This piece is currently on auction on eBay.

Today was another great day in my studio shipping paintings, teaching in the afternoon and painting all evening. I did get a bike ride in around the neighborhood which was so hot! The bank said it was 97 at 7:00 and I believe it. I have been in a good habit of riding every night and I think I am going to add a walk in the mornings. Either that or the ice cream has to go! :-) Hope your week is going well. Thanks for stopping by!

Norma Wilson Original Oil Black And White Cow Art

Tonight's post is a 22" by 28" original oil on gallery wrap canvas with 1 1/2 inch sides painted. It is currently on auction on ebay.

I REALLY love this cow and how soft she looks against the background. She is painted with a lot of paint and may take several days after end of auction to dry. White takes the longest to dry. I always welcome any questions about my paintings and listings and can always be reached at normasart@cox.net. Today was a great day today with time spent in Portsmouth getting a painting ready to ship. I enjoyed the walk around historic downtown on my way to the post office. It was another beautiful day. Then I came home to my Bailee and Brewsky who keep me good company as I paint in my home studio. Sean had a long day of orientation so he was late coming home for dinner. It always feel so good when we are all home together in the evening. I am working in my studio with the news of the Presidential campaign in the background. Andrew was playing his guitar and Sean was studying for his test tomorrow at the restuarant where he is working for the summer. Life is good. Hope all is well in your world. I appreciate your checking in with me. I love being part of the daily painters group and for the opportunity to be associated with such a group. I have met so many wonderful collectors as well! Nite.

Norma Wilson Original Oil White Irish Cow Painting Art

10" by 10" original oil on wrap around canvas with sides painted.

I couldn't stay away from my Irish cows too long! I was good to do a white one with lots of thick brushstrokes again. I had a really busy studio day with shipping and worked on several paintings for my show this weekend at Jerry's Artarama on Providence Road in Virginia Beach.

I am not sure I will schedule two shows in one month again but I AM getting alot of painting done! I have been having fun switching back and forth from acrylic to oil. It is fun to change things up. I have also been switching between fruits, animals, and flowers. I am planning to do some portraits of people too soon.

Well, it is time to call it a night so have a wonderful day tomorrow!
